How do you feel about this?

I passed this one by and wasn't going to even reply, but you asked... That lifter looks trashed from where I'm sitting. Lifters are not supposed to be concave. I would NOT reuse it. Not even close. Sounds like you've already made up your mind to reuse it, though. If it is put back into a...

Carb to brake booster hard vacuum line, why can’t I find it!?!?

First off, I like to keep things original, so I would use a metal pipe like the one it came with. You won't likely find one at a parts house. Best bet for an original is an antique junkyard. There are plenty of places online that sell used parts, as well as restoration parts. You didn't give the...

    Wiring Diagrams

Wiring schematics do get easier with experience. Doesn't everything? Factory service manuals are readily available for most vehicles on eBay. I have a good many of them, as I always get service and parts manuals for my vehicles. May not need them very often, but sometimes can't hardly do without...

    exhaust manifold "air" ports sealant

Finding a correct fitting can be a nightmare. I had some ramshead manifolds with air injection. Used solid pipe-threaded plugs. I put some anti-seize on them, screwed them in tight, and then cut them off flush with the manifold. Looks great. I should mention that I installed them backwards...

What is this steering rebuild part?

You didn't give any model specifics so this may not be an exact match for your truck, but it does show where it goes. See attached picture. Good luck!

Am i calibrating this starter right?

Never heard it called "calibration" before, but it looks like you're trying to adjust the pinion-to-flywheel clearance. Do NOT measure the distance between the armature shaft and the flywheel. You'll end up way too tight. See the attached picture. A point of interest: In nearly 30 years at GM...
