Can I change vent window assembly from 70's to late 80's suburban?

IIRC, it would be better to get the whole door from the 88. There are subtle differences in the body of the doors, i.e. power windows started in 77 or 78, and there have been 3 different types of wing windows.

Tire size for 12 inch lift on 1985 suburban?

You will definitely want to upgrade the axles and more importantly the brakes. The rolling mass that is created by a 44" tire and 12" lift, you will need a greater stopping distance.

corvette side pipes on 87 step side

Welcome to the site. I can't say to do them or not do them, either side or stacked. My concern would be, having the exhaust so close to the fuel tank(s). Stacks would not look correct on the stepper because they would be not placed correctly due to the tank(s). If they were placed like the...

    Upgrade order

Chrome lots of chrome. Do the swap all at once. But if you're going to drop that much on just the top end of an engine. IMO, I'd spend a little more and just swap the whole engine and get a warranty with it. Plus, you'd be done with the smog beast that's in there now.

Call the local junkyard and ask how much axles are going for. It all depends on the area. I can get an axle (non 1T) for 125 here.

What defined the shape of a SM465 shifter? The rod part

I'm sure some engineer got paid big bucks to figure out the bends. Of course, when the GMT 800 C/K trucks came out they only had one bend. As far as the long down throw of reverse. The piece on the the end of the shifter is held in be a drift pin which can become loose after years of use...
