i only drilled out the dont screw with plugs that are over the idle air mixture screws. The jb weld was put over the known to leak well plugs. It runs mint now. Couldn’t be happier. Ben- Itali83

I ended up taking carb back off from last weekend, took the extra spring out of the accelerator pump that was actually for the inlet filter. It’s a GM hei setup. I’m actually thinking about going back to points. I’ve had two module failures on my 82. Aftermarket crap. I did the grease and everything. At least points won’t leave you No, I didn’t get anything from them. Just a parts list, and a link that said go here for instructions.- Itali83

Is this an electrical gauge you have? If so, the only that comes to mind is the wire is chaffing on something only when the motor twists the opposite way when in reverse. It makes no mechanical sense to loose oil pressure ONLY while in reverse and just holding the brake and giving it throttle at...- Itali83

they had a link to a video which I watched and it only showed one spring. But that carb didn’t have the part throttle mixture adjustment like mine so I kind of just went ahead like it was. Wasn’t until I got to the fuel filter that I found no spring and then started doubting the double spring. Ben- Itali83

for sure got the check ball and spring back in. I did notice going through my disassembly pictures that there were two springs under the power piston and none behind the inlet filter. I put a new spring behind the filter as the kit came with it but also put two springs under the power piston...- Itali83

It’s on the bench and I’m going to pull the cover tomorrow to double check. The kit I got from q-jet power was very specific and I had to give them all the numbers from the carb before they would send a kit so I’m thinking that the parts are correct. thanks. I got the Holley books when I got my first Holley and should get this or something similar now with this q-jet. Just figured I could at least get it to run and play with it from there. Gonna try a few things tomorrow hopefully and see how it goes. Ben- Itali83

they were hooked up. I just want to plug the ports instead of having them hooked up INCASE the pcv itself is bad or the brake booster is blown. I would never try to run anything with vacuum ports open.- Itali83

After rebuild and install. I do fill float bowl with fuel. It fired first try but died almost instantly. Not like I shut the ignition off, but like bad mixture. This is 110% carb issue. Forgot to add. I did seal up all the well plugs with jb weld. I had all vacuum ports plugged except the pcv and vacuum brake line. I’m going to plug both of those lines because I didn’t test them and maybe they are bad and causing a major vacuum leak. Ben.- Itali83

Figured it out. It’s the adjustable part throttle mixture screw. I didn’t know what it was during disassembly so I didn’t count the turns it was out from bottomed out. Seems the googler says 3 turns out is a good starting point. I pushed the plug out of the air horn, tapped for 1/8” pipe plug...- Itali83

Rebuilding my Q-jet on my new truck. I can’t find any videos telling me what this screw is. It has a spring under it so I’m assuming it’s an adjustment of some sort. 73/74 grill in a 76 truck
