    Overhead tonneau cover?

One thing I forgot to mention- with both this top or using a regular tonneau cover you have the open bed stake holes. I bought some plastic block off plates and used a bit of silicone to seal them. I didn't want any rain/snow/dust getting into the bed from those holes. I also used some weather...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

I put it on by myself. Think they say they weigh about 30lbs. It doesn't weigh much at all.

    Overhead tonneau cover?

Ah- I see now. Yeah, I would think they would probably be bent somewhat easily if you put something very heavy on them. They are just hollow square tube. I think made of aluminum. And they sit on the inside edge of the bed rail. So they don't protrude into the bed area like the tonneau cover...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

I guess it depends on how it gets hit. I've had the truck slide sideways into tree branches and it is flexible enough to just move out of the way. Then it went back to the normal shape. I've also had over a foot of wet heavy snow on top of it and it didn't collapse. They do say they aren't...

    Overhead tonneau cover?

That would be me. :D They are expensive new. Got mine used on Craigslist for around $200. It is made by Softopper. They make them for trucks along with full size Broncos/Blazers. They have a screen you can put in place of the rear window for ventilation for camping, or if you keep dogs back...

    Wheel and Tire thread

I've heard that repeatedly for many years. But I've never really heard WHY. Why have a different track front vs rear? I had a 1993 Audi where the rear track was wider than the front. Then I bought a 2000 Audi and it was the opposite. Front was wider than the rear. What is wrong with having the...

    Bought the truck now what?

Nice looking truck. You have to be careful with undercoating. Unless it is done properly the undercoating can peel away and allow water/salt/de-icer to then get trapped between the metal and the undercoating. You might want to check out Fluidfilm. It is a wax/oil mixture that you can blast...

    Synthetic Lubricants

I run Mobil 1 synthetic oil in the engine as I like how it will still pour when cold vs conventional oil. It gets to -20 degrees here in the winter so that is the biggest factor for me. I also run Mobil 1 synthetic in the transfer case. As far as gear oil in the axles I just use regular. I was...

Would different shocks make a difference?

I did run some KYB monomax shocks for about 2 years and thought that they were very similiar in ride characteristics to the Bilsteins I had on my other truck. The KYB shocks can be found for about $50 I've yet to run some Fox shocks or Kings though.

8 inch lift overall height question

Kinda funny- I just put some 37s on today and was wondering if it would still fit on the 7' side of the garage. I have 1" trim along the top of the garage door so the height is only 83". My truck still fits by about an inch maybe inch and a half. I have a 5" lift though. In the winter when the...

Beadlock and tires and back spacing.. oh my.

Got them on the truck. Front centercaps will need to be slightly modified to fit. Drove on the highway with them- best tire balance I've had in many many years. The extra width will be nice on some of the sidehills.

'75 K25 Front Leaf Spring Bushing replacement - bolts stuck

Whoops- been a long night. All I saw was "I have a jack under the axle housing"

'75 K25 Front Leaf Spring Bushing replacement - bolts stuck

You should put the jack or a jack stand on the frame and not your axle. The weight of the truck is still on the suspension and "pinning" that bolt into place in the spring eye. Let the axle hang a bit. Lots of PB blaster and start smacking it around. Mine came out that way after some persuasion.

    Crossover steering clearance issue

They are the custom springs ordered from Offroad Design. They give the specs to Alcan spring and then Alcan makes them. The Deaver spring packs look the same. The thought/theory is a lot of small thin springs will flex more easily that just a few big thick ones. And each spring is just a little...

    Crossover steering clearance issue

I installed that "high clearance pitman arm" from ORD today. They were right- some grinding was needed to make it fit. Not too happy doing that- but it works.

^^^ Yes- I agree. I also see the gas tank relocated to the rear of the frame. Nice!

    Ultimate Adventure 2020

Not sure how many of you have ever followed this- it is what Four Wheeler has done every year for the last 20 years. About half the group is the editors, or Steven Watson from ORD. The rest are reader voted rigs. I think last year they were in Alaska. So check my email and it says UA2020 has...

Rear Leaf Center Pin and Clamps

Sounds like a good plan- especially because it seems like sometimes the axle gets moved forward more on some trucks (mine's just a K20). The plate is just for centering how the tire is placed in the wheel well. The pinion angle is going to be tilted upwards automatically with the shackle flip-...

Rear Leaf Center Pin and Clamps

From the ORD website: Our new axle offset plates are an easy and inexpensive way to offset your front or rear leaf-sprung axle forward or back 1/2", 1" or 1-1/2" depending on how they're installed! Basically they bolt into the bottom of the spring pack like any other leaf but allow you to...

Rear Leaf Center Pin and Clamps

Actually PrairieDrifter reminded me of something- if you are doing a shackle flip your rear axle will be moved forward a bit. ORD makes a 1/4" thick plate that allows you to shift the axle forward or backward to re-center it. And moving the axle forward will put the center pin in a different...

Rear Leaf Center Pin and Clamps

The length will depend on how thick your spring pack is, or if you are bolting anything else to it (zero rate, add a leaf..). Might want to check with a tape maeasure before heading out. You can always cut them down shorter later if needed.

Rear Leaf Center Pin and Clamps

I bought the center pins from a local hardware shop when I needed longer ones for my zero rate. A 3/8" Allen bolt worked nicely. ORD website for reference: Even if you don't buy from them you can learn a lot from them. https://www.offroaddesign.com/leaf-spring-center-pins-pair-3-8-x-4.html...
