    What is you headlight setup

We have the same setup, but I also have the Hella 550 (clear) fog lights. As for the difference between sealed beam halogens and the Hella buckets with 9003, the difference is huge! My truck went from having the worst headlight out of all of my vehicles, to the best.

IDK, but I have that exact filter you mentioned so I guess I'll give those a try and see how they work out.

350 vortec 5.7 lower intake leaking vacuum?? Help please

I have those on the shelf at the shop, I had noticed sometime back that they'd physically fit a small engine, just never knew if it was ok, thank you!

350 vortec 5.7 lower intake leaking vacuum?? Help please

Ok you have gotten a lot of good advice, so I won't duplicate any of that, but I'll try to mention only stuff that has not been mentioned. Obviously you had issues with the intake and you are getting that taken care of which is great. Getting the updated spider injection is a must do, I'd put...

    1987 Chev R20 Electrical

If the question is will the engine run fine without the air pump then the answer is yes, it won't effect engine operation. From an emissions stand point, both the air pump and the catalytic converter can be installed separately and each will work to clean up the exhaust, but together they do...

If you have a catalytic converter on the truck and want it to work properly I'd strongly recommend keeping the air pump.

    tow rating - '90 2500 Suburban

In the back of my head when I was writing that, I hoped you'd have something to say about it. Thank for that info. I'm curious what you mean by "launch" Was there a particular speed you guys looked for going up the hill, or was it stopping and ability to get the load going again?

    tow rating - '90 2500 Suburban

We live in a semi-rural area or at least what's left of us. There is a valley between us the major cities and that river floods so I know what you are talking about. We get some snow, but a lot of rain so there is plenty of mud, but good AT tires, and knowing how to drive the truck though...

    Towing with a 305 V8?

I would hop in my truck and drive it across the country tomorrow if I needed to without a second thought. And I'd tow across the country if I needed to as well. Some of my feed hauls are 100+ miles towing 6K. I would not want to tow that much weight across the country, just because it's slow...

    tow rating - '90 2500 Suburban

It's like that across the board the R vs V's and C vs K's The 2wd units always have a higher towing compacity at least to some degree. At the very least there is less drive train weight and who knows what else they figure in. I have a C series and most of the farms I tow my 18 foot trailer...

How can I close the blend door, when driving in the winter season I notice that when I turn down the blower motor it gets extremely cold.

@squaredeal91 Thanks for bringing me in to this thread. I'm not sure that I can specifically answer @Maniac question but the heater core thread is here: >>>> https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/heater-core-how-to.40744/ <<<<< If you flip though my posts on that thread you can see the...

1996 Grand Cherokee transmission rebuild & on to other stuff

With the exception of an odd trip here and there the Jeep has been in park my last update. I'm now looking down the barrel of some potential financial strain so I need to start driving the Jeep more, for a couple of reasons. One is to take wear and tear off the truck of the day to day commute...

My core didn't line up perfectly either, but a little fiddling with it did the trick for me.

    Heater Core how to

I have a VERY different experience with rockauto and lost $500 on a defect ECM I returned. For that reason I will never use them again. But we all have different experiences.

    Heater Core how to

@Grit dog Your welcome. Thanks, feedback like that is the only way I know if anyone has found it useful. Glad it went well for you, how much time do you think you have into it? and how many beers or shots of whiskey would you rate the job?

    starter rebuilding - advice needed

Some of you know life happened to us last Wednesday. I still want to do this project and my intent is to do it at the shop in my free time, but I'm not really sure when. It could start as soon as tomorrow or it might be a month or more. I'll be sure to post when I get rolling with it.

    starter rebuilding - advice needed

Thanks, maybe someone else that comes along can use that bit of advice, as mention before I do not want to got to a mini or vortec starter which is what you are talking about, I'm aware folks do it, but I won't be one of them.

I'm sure it's an age old question, K 20 ride quality improvements.

Merry Christmas to you to! I suppose it would come down to personal preference, and I do see your point. Honestly I have not experimented much. I haul loads so generally my E-rated tires stay at 50Ft and 70Rear, so I'm not constantly inflating and deflating.

I'm sure it's an age old question, K 20 ride quality improvements.

Sometime I'll have to tell you about getting my 88 Olds 88 airborne coming over some railroad tracks. Yes, the car lived, but she sure made some interesting noise on contact lol.

I'm sure it's an age old question, K 20 ride quality improvements.

I agree that pressure plays a huge roll but higher load rater tires like D&E have more belts and much stiffer side walls even when deflated than an P. You are right that "LT" is inclusive of all LT ratings C,D&E. Back when I worked at cooper tire dealer in the 90's we sold truck tires and the...

I'm sure it's an age old question, K 20 ride quality improvements.

My point exactly. Most of the C20 series trucks should be getting D rated tires, I choose E rated tires, because I do load the truck up from time to time and wanted the extra compacity for piece of mind in that scenario, but all for the added stability when towing. I advised LT tires, but if...

Do I need an Alternator upgrade?

Running a stock 78 amp alternator. Keep in mind when talking about up grading alternators, the higher the amperage the greater chance of slipping the belt in a situation where the battery is very low and the alternator has to charge it up.

I'm sure it's an age old question, K 20 ride quality improvements.

I have 84' C20 and it has overloads, so it rides a little on the rougher side but like other folks I like it. However I have a customer at the shop with a 77 C20 and when he is not hauling anything with it he runs 32psi in his front tires and 26psi in the back. I'm not sure I agree with 26...

    Choke Problems on SBC

@MrMarty51 I don't have a this style of choke on my square but I have worked on them. Could it be that the heat riser is stuck open? As you know when the heat riser is shut copious amounts of hot exhaust is running though the port in the intake manifold and that will really speed the process...

    Mirror correct for ‘81?

WOW never bumped one at that speed! I will admit I do not like that they move around in the car wash, but it's a worthwhile trade off IMO.
