Real bad.
The upper bushing were almost completely gone. The spring was resting on the frame. The ride and noise were terrible. All fixed now for about $100.
Honestly, I can't tell you how much this has improved the ride. The worn bushings just kind of crept up on me real slow over a period of time.
Big thanks to 86454k30 for the tip on Offroad Design's upgrade shackle kit for my truck.
Installed in about an hour and the drive difference is night and day!
Truck drives smooth as a dream....well, as smooth as a '77 3/4 ton 4X4 can be I suppose.
Got a full inch of clearance now.
New plate...
shiftpro, Yes I did order the greaseable parts.
gotyourgoat, I think it was making noise and ruining the ride for longer than I realized. It was just over a long period and slow deterioration that it kinda crept up on me to the point where one day I just thought "Wow! my truck rides and sounds...
Thank you brother! That looks like it's EXACTLY what I need. Just ordered it 2 minutes ago.
I'll let you know the results when it arrives and I install. :happy107:
Thanks all!
Greg
I agree.
The front position is fixed. The rear can have some movement with the shackle but why is it laying on the frame? Could the spring length be wrong?
1977 K20
For the past month or so I've noticed a fairly pronounced squeak/groan up front when I go over a bump. Like turning into a driveway over the curb entry. Replaced the cab mounts last year and thought they might have loosened up a bit. Finally checked it today and all seems tight but I...
Not that I'm aware of. It has no lettering or evidence of previous equipment. And it is a 6 cylinder, automatic, 2 wheel drive step side. Pretty basic.
Hmmm?
Not finding what I'm looking for.
Came across this tired '79. VIN is correct for the year. I don't have access to the SPID label. This is clearly the orig. color inside and out. But I'm having trouble locating any reference to this color.
Is anyone reproducing these?
I'm after one for my '77 K20. It is a 4 prong buzzer so I believe it's a combination seat belt warning buzzer and key in ignition if the driver's door is open.
Checked part number on line 1235637 but no luck. LMC doesn't seem to list one and no luck on eBay.
Your...
Ugh!
OK, does anyone have a definitive way to install these little fuckers?
These are the end link bushings for my '77 K20. I really want to stick with OEM style black rubber rather than the poly bushings. Used the poly in the past and couldn't get past the endless squeaks.
So, these are correct...
Jason,
I could be interested in this truck.
Can you post a few more pics please or send them to my e-mail at:

Is it a runner?
Is it in Bakersfield?
Title & tags current or nonop?
What will it take to buy it?
Thanks, Greg
Craig,
You're right. When I bought the truck from the original owner he had Korean War Vet plates on it, which he kept.
I didn't really think about it too much when I ordered the black plates but if I had it to do over again, I would have found a nice set of blue plates and...
