    Paint name & code

Lol. Regardless, this is to OE color scheme for my Big 10, and I plan to return her one day to her original beauty.

    Paint name & code

Sweet. I’ve seen build sheets like that before, but this is the first one that has Hawaiian blue labeled medium in parenthesis. I’ve only seen one or the other. The sample is supposed to be a 75 according to the sales listing, but the target truck (mine) is a 78. These are the colors mine came...

Does anyone know what colors these are? The darker one I have seen called Hawaiian Blue and Medium Blue. I believe the lighter color is simply Light Blue.

    What is you headlight setup

I dunno. A proper LED headlight setup should not dazzle. LEDs that use the same light pattern as halogens and that are aimed correctly should not have much more effect on opposing travel than halogens. Most of the issues with LED lights are units aimed too far up or too far into traffic, or they...

What did you pay for a square

I’ve been told my truck is a bit of an odd, rare bird. I don’t know how accurate that is, but I haven’t seen many like it.

What did you pay for a square

@mtbadbob I chuckled at the polar differences in our tastes. You went through the work of drilling holes to put the tailgate band back on. My first mod to my truck was to remove it and put it in my shed. I might consider one of those narrow filler bands with “Chevrolet” stamped in the center...

What did you pay for a square

Great story! Glad you were able to save it!

What did you pay for a square

Same model years, even! Mine’s a 78 Silverado (sans a/c) short bed with dual tanks, a 350, and a Muncie 4 speed. Yours?

    What is you headlight setup

I have the 9003 sealed-beam replacements as well - the type with the crystal-clear lens (no fluting) and the facetted reflector, but I have not installed them yet. I honestly have not gotten to drive the truck yet. Soon, hopefully. I have driven enough older vehicles with sealed-beam lights...

    Show your daily driver

Recently picked up this gem as our daily. 1995 Volkswagen Cabrio GLX. Nice, solid car. Easy on gas and a blast to drive. New canvas top. I just need to put the side trim back on. It's hard to believe she's 30!

What did you pay for a square

I paid $2400 for my Big 10. Now ask me how much I've paid since then. Lol

    Which clutch!?

    ???

    Which clutch!?

I'm not putting anything in front of it. It has something like 75k original miles on it, and the engine runs great, aside from the old, blown Qjet accelerator pump (I have a brand-new Holley 4175 Qjet replacement for it), so it will have the factory 4-bolt main 350 in it until that engine dies...

    Which clutch!?

Ok. So, from what I'm gathering from all this info, if I'm not willing to do the job (in this case, anyway), I should let the shop do what they need to and just deal with the associated markup on O'Reilly parts. This shop does allow owner-purchased parts. They just don't warranty them and it's a...

    Which clutch!?

This is my first vintage American vehicle, if you can’t tell. I’m pretty clueless.

    Which clutch!?

Ok, so the clutch is either/or? I assume the 168 tooth flywheel is larger in diameter than the 153. So wouldn’t I want the larger clutch in that case?

    Which clutch!?

Hello all, it's been a while. I need help figuring out which clutch and flywheel I need for my truck. I don't have it out, and I don't want to play the return/exchange game. I'm letting a shop do the clutch job because I've only ever done a clutch once, it was nearly 20 years ago, it was on an...

It took long enough that my brand new wheel cylinders are rusty. Lol

Believe me. It happened. There’s no pics because I was QUITE done with these drums. Disc conversion kit on the list of future things to do…

Yay!!! It only took six months, but I finally finished the rear brakes! Lol

    I’m so smart

Btw, y’all, I have looked. My Big10 does NOT have adjuster holes in either the backing plates or the drums, nor does it have un-punched holes. Solid plate, solid drum.

    I’m so smart

That actually helps a lot! Thanks! I use mnemonics like that all the time (over a decade wrenching and I still tell myself "righty-tighty"). These drums are a bigger PITA than I remember and than I have ever done. how do you stretch a spring you can't even flex?! You need to be an octopus to do...

    I’m so smart

Damn. My parts are brand new and don’t look that nice. Lol
  25. Disco

    I’m so smart

Agreed. But there’s a caveat. Normally, I wouldn’t have opened both sides. When I bought the truck, the right rear brakes were completely frozen. The friction material was bonded to the drum by rust, and the process of pulling the drum off broke the hold-down pins, so the right rear was kind...
