    Bucket seat covers

My truck has original bucket seats and I'd like to get some seat covers to preserve them abit longer. I saw plenty on bench seat covers but not so much bucket. Anyone know of a brand that fits nice and tight? 81 GMC C2500 Sierra Classic

Electric fuel pump help. What gph I be running

I'm abit late on the response but I was referring to when people run an electric and mechanical fuel pump in series. The electric keeps forcing gas into the mechanical after it has ruptured.

    Stepside bolt kits and strips

So I'm going to need all fresh hardware for my bed. Does anyone have any experience with the brands out there? Anything to seek or avoid? I want stainless steel bolts and strips for my truck. And this is for a longbed. Thanks all

Help with a 396 build in a work truck

I always wondered about building a 396 with peanut heads. It's down on cubes compared to a 454 so I think your rpm range would be just fine. And the smaller ports should give better velocity so better low torque. The only downside to me would be finding pistons to get your compression up. If you...

    Tow mirrors, finally a picture!

To me those don't match at all, but I don't really like any plastic on my square's body. And to give up the wing window, that's just too much. I know I'm the minority but I kinda like the old tow mirrors on the right truck.

    454 bolt ons

So I found this video on youtube. They pull a 454 from a motor home. They dyno it as it came out at 330 hp and 475 ftlb. They slap a top end kit on it and make 560 hp and 535 ftlb on 87 octane. Thought you guys might find it interesting.

    Looking for a new cam

Hmm, I think more information would be good. What compression are you thinking of running? And what kind of transmission? And would you change your torque converter if auto? What gearing will you run? And most important how do you plan to use it? I think a roller cam would be worth while if you...

    140 Speedometer

I've had my truck somewhere about 120 before and it felt alright actually. Didn't mean to go that fast, I was passing on the freeway. My girlfriend gave up trying to keep up in her bug and told me after. I had no idea. Now I'm only a 2wd so probably another story for you 4wd guys.

    140 Speedometer

Awesome, sounds like a hell of alotta fun. Mine is fair bit milder. 30 over 454 with closed chamber heads from 68. About 9:1 with a 218/228 .501/.502 cam. 800 cfm quadrajet and full length headers.

    140 Speedometer

Damn, that is pretty. Hp estimates? And I'm always interested in specs and the build.

    Anyone Reproducing Air Inlet Tube?

https://m.summitracing.com/parts/spe-9751 I think this could be used as an alternative, has good reviews on summit. I plan on using two for a dual snorkle setup.

Electric fuel pump help. What gph I be running

The only risk I've heard with running both electric and mechanical pumps is that if the diaphram in the mech ruptures you can flood your crankcase with gas.

Electric fuel pump help. What gph I be running

I am using a Carter p4070 and it's been flawless. Been a couple years now and it's still going, more than I can say for all the mechanical pumps I tried. 72 gph at a nice low pressure for carbs, no regulator needed. Carter also has a 100 gph version. Has pretty good reviews on summit too...

    Tach signal wire

Thanks, honestly I had no idea they had systems like that on trucks this old. Well, My idle is solid without it and all the vacuum components are long gone so I think I'll manage without it.

    Tach signal wire

Would that be the little solenoid that bumps the idle up on the carb? If I remember correctly the original one had a vacuum line on it. I took it off at some point (I think when I was purging all my smog stuff and the mess of vacuum lines associated with it) and later added an electric one wired...

    Tach signal wire

So I have an 81 c2500 with a 454/th400. It didn't have a factory tach but there still was a plug on the tach signal. When I got my tach cluster I just kinda unhooked it figuring it wasn't doing anything and made my own signal wire. Recently I traced the factory signal wire and found it connected...

    1977 400 timing specs?

Sounds good to me, of course that's setting initial without vaccum hooked up. If you're at a high altitude you could try a couple more degrees and see if it likes it, get any ping back it off.

    Vacuum Advance

Well, I found a picture. I would suggest running it off the manifold vacuum, to my understanding the only reason oems started using the ported or "timed" vacuum was for emissions purposes. Here's a nice little article if our interested in alil more depth...

    help with an oil leak

Thanks for the confirmation, I'll be getting some small block experience this summer helping my buddy with his 350. Well I'd already gone out and snapped a pic, so here it is.

    help with an oil leak

Don't believe it would be a modification, I blew my first block and have a different one now. I might be remembering wrong but I think it was a plug with a square end to remove it on both. When i did ny pumps I always had a to stick my finger i the hole to keep the rod up. I might have to go...

    Vortec Head Retrofit Question

Hmm, if it seems happy at 60 I'd run it as is for abit and check your plugs, if they're clean after a few checkups I think it's fine. If not you could upgrade your coil and module, there's many brands to do this. Personally I went with a petronix coil and module and got a built in rev limiter...

    help with an oil leak

Isn't it pipe thread for the access hole? Or is it just big blocks that use pipe thread? Or am I just totally off here?
