    Very cool So I've always heard you can't run any ethanol in a plane due to icing, can you get ethanol free 87? I've never seen anything less than 91 ethanol free.

    Does anyone know how struts like that hold up in lighter applications like a hood? My only experience with them is the back hatch on my parents jeeps and they always sag in less than a year so I kinda writ them off in my head as a junk product.

    A good block can go .100 over from what I've heard, but that's pushing the limit. I'd say the advantage of using an oem tall deck is it allows for longer connecting give a better rod stroke ratio. And I believe you can get some cranks with a 4.375 stroke but that's not for the faint of heart...

    If you can justify the cost I'd suggest a a/f gauge. Helped me dial in my qjet and it'll make it much easier to adjust for future things if you plan on modifying your engine as you go.

    I was running 36 or 38 total timing before pulling it down to the frame this summer, I run ethanol free 91 and I have closed chamber heads. Considering my elevation I might even try 40 when it's back together.

    Have you checked timing? I've picked up a couple mpg by advancing the timing to about 10 degrees initial (factory spec was only 4 degrees for my engine). That's where I'd start, then a basic tune up, check spark plugs, wires, cap, vacuum leaks, air filter, ect.

    Huh, after reading some of those posts maybe he isn't a good reference. I watched a fair number of his porting videos a few years ago and to me it sounded like he knew his shit. Though I didn't have much knowledge to counter it, I guess take his videos with a grain of salt.

    My bad, I was thinking of the hot air riser that comes off the exhaust manifold. I admittedly don't have much experience with the smog gear, my truck basically just had a smog pump on it and I ditched it long ago (no testing in Montana).

    To my knowledge no truck came with it. I believe some performance cars had dual snorkels though. Anyway it's really easy to fab up on these trucks since there is an extra cutout on the other side of the radiator, just punch it out, and another snout onto your air cleaner and run some tubing.

    I was saying I think that while you're moving enough air is being pushed in to overcome the restrictions. So denser air and a larger volume of it, win win.

    For me it seemed to be a noticable improvement to have the lid on proper. Also I would wager that when your moving a fair bit of air is being forced into the tube like a ram air setup even with the plastic bug shield.
