    Both Flowmasters came apart?

@Grit dog the issue may not be the Flowmasters at all. I had a similar situation with my Duramax recently and it was very difficult to diagnose. My 2500HD was down on power, the fuel mileage was down and there was a rattling noise in the exhaust. Turns out I had passed a Ford so fast that...

    Sports mirrors on 1987

@mario87c10 I had the exact same problem with a Bronco project. The PO wanted the "smooth" look which makes for a very poor driver. We deliberately moved the mirrors back and down a little to avoid drilling into the bondo and risk having a large oval shaped hole. We figured that having the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ayden, according to LMC a new grille (You have to put that E at the end of grill) for a 1985-87 GMC is $89.95. Part #38-3859 It will NOT include the GMC emblem (mine is 3 separate letters). The headlight bezels give you 3 options: Standard for $10.95 each. Premium for $17.95 each. All Chrome...

What have you done to your square lately??

Those headlight bezels are about $17 through LMC. I installed a set on my '87 because the originals were so badly beat up. Actually ordered a replacement grill through LMC at the same time but had to order all new plastic grommets and got new screws as well.

    Making multipurpose shops work

I cut about two acres here and another two acres at my parent's home. I usually swap blades twice per year but the dust from the blade sharpening doesn't affect me at all. My setup is Much Better than yours. I just leave the dull blades at Pop's and the next time I go to cut his yard the...

    It's never that easy

The PO of my '87 installed a set of aluminum spacers on the rear. I had to remove them to get the drums off to inspect the brakes when I bought the truck. I wasn't going to put them back but Pop wanted them on there. He said he always was bothered by the front track being wider than the rear...

    Making multipurpose shops work

I don't think you can keep sawdust from getting EVERYWHERE even if you had a good vacuum system. I am clearing ground for a shop right now and I already know that I cannot do wood work in there without contaminating everything else I do. I think you either need a wall and ceiling system to...

    towing rig

"Can she do it" is one question but the real question is "should she do it". I say it's a bad idea. Hotshotting is about reliably moving things from place to place as efficiently as possible. Squarebody Trucks are not aerodynamically efficient. If you can build a 6.5 to those HP and Torque...

What have you done to your square lately??

I am betting that you need a working A/C right now. I don't know where in Louisiana you are located but if you are anywhere close to me it has been HOT. Honestly I cannot think of anywhere in Louisiana that isn't HOT right now. Mrs. Redfish would refuse to ride in my '87 if it didn't have...

What have you done to your square lately??

What I did today actually began last week. I ordered a new MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor from O'Reilly's. It arrived a couple days later and I made an attempt to install it. It looked identical but the 3 prong plug would not fit. The individual holes were significantly smaller than...

What have you done to your square lately??

This may have been a mistake because I have had many wonderful conversations about The Truck that started with a single question. People always ask me, "What year is that Truck?" I did this because all too often at car shows I don't know exactly what year something is and I find myself wishing...

    Door Panel Refinished

Classic Industries probably has what you need. I got a little confused on their website, according to them your truck doesn't have 1976 arm rests, they look like 1977 arm rests. The black rests are part #W778001. In Stock Now, $23.99 Please don't take my word on this, check them out or call...

What have you done to your square lately??

I started on some minor routine maintenance over the weekend that of course went south on me. I am positive that the gear oil in the front differential is what the factory put in it in 1987. So I got a new gasket from O'Reilly's and some fresh synthetic gear oil and attacked it. Of course the...

    “4x4” front hub decals?

I know that the ones that go on the automatic locking hubs are different/smaller than what goes on the rear. I suppose you could modify the rear to fit the front, perhaps that is the best course of action. But the front is significantly smaller in diameter than the rear. LMC does sell the...

    Holy Grail of Squarebodys

In 1987 they changed to "R" &"V" Well, technically they are correct. GMC made a V1500 truck, I don't know if Chevy called it a 10 or a 1500. But they surely didn't build a V10 Engine.

    BC’s boat/dumpster fire thread

Use some Common Sense here. How do you think they got the pin INTO the nut? That entire "chrome collar" comes off. The end you took off should have been left in place. That entire thing is called a Bearing Buddy. The chrome piece goes on in place of the regular cap but has a grease zert in...

What have you done to your square lately??

I decided to just Enjoy my Square Body today. Yesterday I cleaned it up nicely and this morning I loaded my two roommates into it. We crossed the Mississippi River at Donaldsonville and rode through Pierre Part, Louisiana. We had lunch at Landry's (think Troy Landry of Swamp People fame) and...

What have you done to your square lately??

@Goldie Driver one of my more frustrating troubleshooting experiences was in a friend's 1987. His floor light, and cigarette lighter were intermittently not working. The cigarette lighter was a problem because he couldn't reliably charge his phone. He "cleverly" installed a larger fuse which...

So I guess this is my Trans Am build thread now...

Just for reference purposes, this one sold yesterday on Bring A Trailer for $57,000. It doesn't even have the pinstripes so it's not a "perfect" car.

oops ! Can you spot what’s wrong here?

Last I saw the bid on that one was only $17,500 on Bring A Trailer. I think it ends today.

What have you done to your square lately??

I may have just made a little mistake but in my defense I had no way of knowing until I got started. I decided to change the spark plugs and I wanted to go back with the original, correct spark plug. I ordered a set of AC Delco CR43TS plugs, set the gaps to .035 and swapped them out. But the...

    Stereo with no head unit?

This isn't a bad way to go. I would love to have an original Delco with a working cassette player but I have about given up on that hope.
