    Stumped, fender marker/turn light issue

The use of LEDs for blinkers gets a bit complicated. It can be done reliably but it takes some doing. I have had very poor results with "LED Flashers". Let's explain how the flasher works. Current flow through the flasher generates heat. Heat causes a bimetallic strip to bend and the...

    33X12.5X15 Mud Terrain Tires

True but I had other requirements. I had to run an "American" brand on my GMC. I like the Toyo, I run them on my '19 Duramax but bring myself to run them on my Old School truck. The Thornbirds simply look ridiculous to me, they did not fit the "look" of a 1987 era truck. The Coopers were a...

    33X12.5X15 Mud Terrain Tires

Most of the tire hum/singing/noise comes from the side lugs and very few modern mud tires have side lugs sticking out past the carcass. The Buckshot Mudders and Super Swampers of my youth had large side lugs and made a LOT of noise on the road. They pulled really well in the mud, which was...

Another superb working man's truck that looked like something @SirRobyn0 could put to work:

Pascagoula Beach Park While we were there someone must have ordered an entire case of Freedom. This Arleigh Burke class destroyer came cruising into the nearby Ingalls Ship Yard and completely diverted my attention. These things move pretty quickly, supposedly over 35mph.

Pascagoula Beach Park: This really well done white blazer had some very special leaf springs. The rear leaf, yes singular, leaf was composite. I asked for and received permission to crawl under the truck to take a couple pics.

This very nice 3/4 ton was on the beach road. I immediately thought about @SirRobyn0 when I saw it, took the pic while we were moving in opposite directions. Caught this one on the beach road as well. Pascagoula Beach Park: The two brothers we met the day before:

Bay St. Louis: This excellent truck really caught my attention. Brother-in-law and I talked to this guy and his brother who had almost the same truck for about 30 minutes.

When I think of a "keeper" I naturally think of a fish that is big enough to keep. BigUn (Mrs. Redfish) is definitely a "keeper" if we use size standards! No, she likes to talk so much that she cannot stay quiet even when she is mad at me. I always get jealous when I hear guys talk about...

    Cruisin' the Coast 2022

This old warhorse really impressed me. I spoke to the owner(s) and they assured me that the old 6.2 was still in there. There was a diesel tank in the bed and the truck obviously sees regular farm use. I LOVE seeing these old trucks still working, still earning their keep. @SirRobyn0 I...

This board shows how many vehicles from each state and the total # registered. The total eventually reached 9618. I will leave you folks to judge this price... I thought this one was super clean, I love seeing one that still looks original.

    Cruisin' the Coast 2022

This event is so spread out and covers so many miles that it is impossible to see it all. I found it interesting that some of the vehicles that I liked the best would turn up at whatever town I was in each day. I would see the same vehicles at several different locations with no particular...

This was possibly the best Square Body Engine Swap I have ever seen. Why go with an LS when you can put a 6.6 Duramax? This truck was superb in every detail.

What have you done to your square lately??

Filled the bed with ice chests, cooking equipment, chairs and luggage and drove it to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a week. We were Participants of Cruisin the Coast. 9,618 Registered Vehicles this year. I will post a few pics here, the rest will be in the Events subforum in my Cruisin the...

Over the last few days we have cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned on the Old Truck. I am loading it up, we leave around lunch tomorrow for Gulfport. My favorite-ex-brother-in-law has been making good use of the carrying capacity of my Truck. There is a double burner and two Dutch ovens under the...

    Multimeters?

Part of the answer actually lies with YOU. How much of what the multimeter does can you understand? Then you have the subtle differences between an RMS meter and a True Meter...this can get very deep and very confusing. For my At Home meter I use a Fluke 79. It does everything I need and I...

What have you done to your square lately??

Funny that you bring up this topic, it comes up a lot here with my '87. A couple of my friends get very upset about me using my Old Truck as a Truck. When I was shopping for a Classic Vehicle Mrs. Redfish requested that we get a truck. She wanted it to be nice enough for car shows, nice...

What have you done to your square lately??

I completely agree with you here. None of the current/modern designs look right on these trucks. You have to find something that either is old or looks old. Some of the aluminum "Slots" can still be had and they look pretty good. I was surprised at how many folks reacted to my OE Rally...

Poll: What '70s/'80s pickup would you own if a GM square wasn't an option?

One of the local Mopar guys has one that he has restored. He has a book of the restoration photos he takes to the car shows, he always puts it on top of the radiator. But you have to include the Midnight Express as well. Not many of those around but this one at the Jambalaya Festival...

Poll: What '70s/'80s pickup would you own if a GM square wasn't an option?

I remember my Pop being on the fence and having trouble deciding back in 1977. He knew the first Gen Bronco was a useful and practical choice and they were Very Good in the Gumbo mud down here in Swampy Flatlandistan. I have always driven GMC but I share Pop's love and admiration for those old...
