    ‘87 truck assessment

Worth relative to what? Market value? If you are going on resale then save your money and don't restore it cause you will lose money. Does it have sentimental value, or do you want to restore because its something you want to do and have a truck at the end of the project? If yes, then its...

    1974 K10 short bed

I just finished a TBI conversion on my 78 K15. I'd be happy to share learnings (and what I'd do differently) if you like.

    Brake Problem

Not so much as a huffy child on this one. However I noticed the front side of the booster was wet underneath where the MC connects. I thought it was just fluid I spilled when bleeding so I wiped it dry and a half hour later it was wet. I haven't lost a lot of fluid but there is some loss...

    Brake Problem

I had to replace the proportioning valve and all the lines on my 78 K15 due to rot and a stuck valve in the PV. I bled everything to where I was almost happy with the brake pressure. Now, when the engine is running and brakes applied I lose a lot of pressure and the brakes will easily bottom...

Best Set-up for plowing, Dream rig

I think the weight benefit is exaggerated. In my opinion there is no need for a ton of extra weight, whether it be in a big block, 1 ton, or a bunch of extra weight on the truck. Plow blades float so I'm not sure what you need the weight for. There is no amount of snow you are going to push...

There's no commercial plowers up here that have anything but a stock height truck for plowing.

Maybe the V10, pretty common on them. Had not heard that problem on the 5.4. It would be hard to spit out the plug on a 5.4 cause they seize in the cylinder after about 50k.

    Cab rebuild

For full disclosure, I have one of everything, in no particular order. 2009 'Burb - wife's rig of course she gets the newest of the fleet 2004 F150 - my aforementioned cause of many sleepless nights and massive amounts of money 2001 Dodge 1500 - surprisingly been very dependable. Had to...

    Cab rebuild

The 3v, absolutely. The gen 1 2v, I disagree. I've had two 2v with serious miles and abuse and they held up well. I then decided it would be a great idea to get a first year 3v in 2004 F150. What a nightmare. Between $750 spark plug jobs to a complete front cover job (chains, tensioners...

The GM 5.3 is tried and true, pretty tough to beat. If you can't find one of them a 2v Fjord Triton is a good option.

    1st TBI Conversion Help Needed

I ended up scrapping the DIY cable in favor of one from AFI. Need to reburn my chip to eliminate ESC, and once that's back I'll try to fire it up.

    1st TBI Conversion Help Needed

Here's my thread from Gearhead EFI. Thought I'd post here to see if anyone has thoughts. http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?6859-First-Conversion-Help-Needed! Scroll to the end of the thread that explains my current problem and what I've done. Thanks in advance!

    Gauge Options

I'd like to do everything - all 6 stock gauges with possibly a side bezel for trans temp. I would convert fuel to the small gauge and add tachometer in place of the old fuel gauge. I wonder if its possible to use a 2 1/16" gauge directly into the stock gauge pod. I'm ok with modifying the...

    Gauge Options

I'm considering completely redoing my gauges in tandem with a TBI conversion I'm doing. I have looked at the aftermarket kits (Dakota Digital, Classic Dash, etc.) and would like to also look into a DIY option. I'm partial to Autometer gauges but will consider other options. Has anyone updated...

    TBI gauge compatibility

Sorry for leaving out that info. I am finishing a TBI conversion on a gen 1 350 with th350 in this 78. I thought I could use the TBI sending units for my old gauges, or figure out what gauges would work with the updated sending units. I was hoping to not run dual sending units (one for...

    TBI gauge compatibility

Will my TBI sending units work with the old style gauges? I read somewhere there may be an ohm rating difference, but can't find the specifics. I'm thinking about hooking up oil pressure, tach, and coolant temp directly from the installed TBI sending units. If the old stock 78 gauges won't...

Best Set-up for plowing, Dream rig

If I ever get this TBI swap done and my brakes complete, I'll post up a pic of our snow plowing rig. 78 K15, gen 1 350, TH350. I would recommend a limited slip rear, I don't think you need front or rear lockers. To each their own. We don't get a lot of wet heavy snow here so am rarely at a...

Rear Disc - Wilwood PV Needed?

I installed a rear disc conversion kit from TSM on my 78 K15.. The fit and install were nice. Anyway, I purchased a Wilwood adjustable PV with the brake kit, and after reading the posts below, I'm confused how this is installed, or if it is even needed? I also found some other internet advice...

Tapping Park Safety wire on TBI conversion

As post title indicates, trying to wrap up a TBI conversion wiring. My 78 K18 has purple/purple white going in to the park safety switch. I'm uncertain which of the two gets tapped for ECM connection on the TBI conversion. I assume one is ground and the other is the one to tap? Thanks in...
