    I ended up ordering from OBD1 diagnostics. Not cheap at $60 but I'm at the point in my project where I'm not willing to risk any potential problems with a less expensive cable. I'm sure many other cables have worked fine for people but that's the route I am going.

    heater fan - always on?

    Good to know. My 78 fan runs all the time. This time of year I like it. During our one nice month of the year (July) it can get a little warm. I like the idea of installing a valve on the heater line.

    Brake Problem

    Circling back to report I now have brakes that will lock up all four tires. I replaced the master cylinder and bled the brakes for what seemed like forever with a Mityvac. I did find a leak on the new PV connection, tightened that all up and they seem to be good to go.

    1974 K10 short bed

    Well I can tell you that performance isn't one reason...at least not high performance as in HP, etc. I did a TBI swap for better cold weather starting (its on a plow truck) and some mileage benefit. Its an incredibly reliable setup for stockish setups.
