    Random thought... I don't remember seeing cat(s) under the truck when I was replacing the starter. I wasn't particularly looking so I might be derping out here but would an 83 C20 small block 350 california truck have catalytic converters??

    Well, unlike you I don't have the equipment, time, expertise, or money to replace the entire engine :P But seriously, is that diesel oil stuff okay for gasoline trucks? Isn't it too thick? Like 15W-40 or something?

    Powerful Vortec 350 5.7L V8 engine. LOW MILES. Automatic transmission. Push button 4x4. Tow hitch. Power locks, power windows, power seats. Drivers side air bag. Heat/defrost/blower fan work fine - AC has a slow leak somewhere and needs to add refrigerant to work but then it will work fine...

    Well, just take it back to O'Reilly's and demand a warranty replacement. I'm assuming it's their el-cheapo "Ultima" brand rebuilt starters? I have had good luck with the one in my 96 Yukon and will probably be buying another for my 83 C20 because I think the starter is bad and I'm on a budget...

    Is a trailer brake controller neccessary to use the brakes on the trailer? Or do the brakes on the trailer enable whenever it detects brake lights and the controller simply lets you adjust them, or how does that work?

    I don't know if the engine/trans are any good, I've never started or driven the truck. LOL! But assuming they are, (should find out next week I plan to have it running this Friday) there's just the money issue then. Think an 83 C20 350 could handle that trailer with my 96 Yukon K1500 or 98...

    OK... So now everything is working except for starter. Methinks it's either not connected properly or it's bad. I didn't see the above response until now but here's where I'm at. By the way I did put in new spark plugs and reconnected wires. It's ready to go... just gotta get it to start :D...
