Haha... nah, when I get my 83 C20 running it will become my daily driver, then I can sell my Yukon. No hurry to sell, in fact I could not sell it right away, but I figured I'd throw it up here just in case somebody is interested. Then I'll go to Nevada and chase the moron down who sold me my 98...
Random thought... I don't remember seeing cat(s) under the truck when I was replacing the starter. I wasn't particularly looking so I might be derping out here but would an 83 C20 small block 350 california truck have catalytic converters??
Alright, might go that way next route depending on the price. Will 3K miles without the additive destroy my engine? Or is this stuff all so overblown :D
Well, unlike you I don't have the equipment, time, expertise, or money to replace the entire engine :P
But seriously, is that diesel oil stuff okay for gasoline trucks? Isn't it too thick? Like 15W-40 or something?
Yep, that's what I figured. Is there any particular ZDDP additive you recommend? I found this product on Amazon - do you think it's good? I'm assuming I'm supposed to add a little bit to every oil change...
Just did the first oil + filter change on my 83 C20 with 350 V8.
I used Pennzoil conventional 10W-40 and a Microgard filter (seemed very well constructed with metal inside). I'm trying to come up with an oil change schedule. I'm thinking 3000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first. I'm aiming...
I'd be happy to lend a hand to anybody nearby.
-I always have a bunch of tools and repair manuals with me in my truck at all times
-I always carry motor oil, ATF, coolant, water, brake fluid, etc. in my truck at all times
-Happy to take you to the nearest auto parts store to pick up a part...
Powerful Vortec 350 5.7L V8 engine. LOW MILES. Automatic transmission. Push button 4x4. Tow hitch. Power locks, power windows, power seats. Drivers side air bag. Heat/defrost/blower fan work fine - AC has a slow leak somewhere and needs to add refrigerant to work but then it will work fine...
Well, just take it back to O'Reilly's and demand a warranty replacement. I'm assuming it's their el-cheapo "Ultima" brand rebuilt starters? I have had good luck with the one in my 96 Yukon and will probably be buying another for my 83 C20 because I think the starter is bad and I'm on a budget...
Is a trailer brake controller neccessary to use the brakes on the trailer? Or do the brakes on the trailer enable whenever it detects brake lights and the controller simply lets you adjust them, or how does that work?
Can we post stuff from eBay too? I'm trying to sell my old spark plug and am hoping somebody will find this bizarre enough to buy it.

I don't know if the engine/trans are any good, I've never started or driven the truck. LOL! But assuming they are, (should find out next week I plan to have it running this Friday) there's just the money issue then.
Think an 83 C20 350 could handle that trailer with my 96 Yukon K1500 or 98...
I been thinking...

This would be the most useful purchase ever... just worried that my 83 C20 with a 350 wouldn't be able to handle this trailer + another truck on the back :) Happen to know what...
OK... So now everything is working except for starter. Methinks it's either not connected properly or it's bad. I didn't see the above response until now but here's where I'm at.
By the way I did put in new spark plugs and reconnected wires. It's ready to go... just gotta get it to start :D...
