    350 Casting Numbers

Okay so I’ve tried to decode this thing and since I can’t find anything online, what year was this block built? I was able to find out it was built in Flint but that’s about it. It has factory 2bbl and smog crap so I’m guessing it’s an 83 model but I don’t know everything.

    Egr and other emissions

Okay so I need some help with what hoses I can cut off and off to remove emissions. I know I need to get a block off plate for the egr but what hoses can I cut off and which ones do I need to keep? Also do I need the canister up front at all or can I just completely remove it?

    Vin help

I don’t want 3/4 ton axles. I appreciate it though. I’m getting it ready to drive daily for now. Eventually I’m going to restore it to somewhat factory and make it look good. It was my grandpas truck and then my uncles high school truck so it’s something special. Wanna keep it as close to...

    Vin help

Well I know the vehicle and the person who owns it so I know it’s works as well as the front axle. We just don’t know the ratio right now but I will be finding out soon. Trying to get a 3.42 to put in my truck build to make my rear match the front for now. Will be going to switch both out to a...

    Vin help

Have a 1981 GMC Jimmy with the vin ID of 1GTEK18D7BF509290 . Can’t find anything that will decode the vin to find out what gears it has. Not going to pay $20 to get the info from a website. Was hoping to do it the easier way instead of having to take things apart. Any good information would be...

87 tbi exhaust manifold pipe plug

Will this fit in most all of the older engines? I’m not sure what year my engine is that I’m about to put in my truck as it’s still in another vehicle but it’d be nice to know if this will work in it. It’s an old 350. Engine isn’t the original one for the vehicle it’s in so no idea the year.

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

I’m not going to. When I’m able to switch to a 4bbl I’m just going to clean the carb and intake up and put them up somewhere

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

I’ll get pictures of it later today when it quits raining. It’s in an old 81 Jimmy. Some guy had swapped out the original v6 for it. My grandpa said it was like that when he bought it. So I’m guessing it was built originally like that cause it has all the right stuff on it. My grandpa has a 2bbl...

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

It’s a 100% factory 350 with a 2bbl carb setup. Has all the egr and emissions crap on it. Can I run it without using the emissions crap connected or will it run like total crap?
  19. M

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

Okay so is it possible to run the engine without all that crap with factory intake and carb? I’ve gotta run those until I can get aftermarket parts.

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

Also have another curiosity question. The canister that’s supposed to be under the hood in front of/at the drivers side of the radiator. What is it and what is it for?
  21. M

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

Yeah I live in Oklahoma so I don’t have to worry about the emissions. But I am curious as to if I can use the factory 2bbl setup that’s currently on the engine without the emissions that’s on it? I’ve never used anything factory and I’m gonna have to for a short bit till I can buy a few parts.

    Gearing Help

I can do all of it myself. I’ve done a few. I’ll have help that originally done the first gear swap in it so this will be an easy job.

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

I refuse to use anything smog. I have no use for it. This truck has never had any smog crap on it since I was a kid and it don’t need it. I just want a 4bbl setup instead of the 2bbl the engine has right now.

    Gearing Help

Okay. I can do the work myself. Just was curious on what everyone thought about on the gearing. Everyone that gave me supportive help, I appreciate it. I think I’m going to go with the 3.73’s.

Factory intake, carb, and other parts

I’m not going to be using anything smog related but I do need a decent carb and intake to put on my engine because I don’t want to use the 2bbl factory setup. Don’t want anything that’s junk or needing work. Kinda on a budget
