    Electric vs mechanical fan

I've seen this pitch many times before and I'll give you a valuable little tip of Advice. . . Don't add anything or if you must, just get an oversized aluminum cored radiator. Since we're only dealing with gas engines, any, any ,any motor oil comes with an additives package ( That's what the Oil...

    oil changes ?

Thank you, I was thinking what a waste for the oil, not having run for 4 months to be drained and changed. At the next change, I use AC and or Borsh oil filters. But I'm going with Full Synthetic and a new oil filter.

    oil changes ?

I changed the oil when I put my Blazer away for the winter. Should it be changed when it comes out of the garage once the salt is gone, ( It is still perfectly light brown ) or drive it again in the fall, just before it gets put away for the winter ? Thank You !

    I wanted a small tachometer so. .

Well see my tachometer is screwed and double faced to the front of the " A " pillar. So it isn't affected by the door slamming or not. It's fixed to the a pillar with the 2 screws and double face tape. But I was only able to set up with LED inside light is lit all the time the engine is running?

    I wanted a small tachometer so. .

I stated with one those small pods like for 52mm tachometer, But it wouldn't work. So I got one from Summit that had a full adjustment base. Up and down The 80 to 89 or later, but the " A " is on both a angle and a small pitch. So I needed a base that I could cut off an inch off the base...

Need Help, ECT 3 Modules, no cure ?

I'm having a problem with my 88 K5. It's got a 350 TBI and I ran into a "Service Engine Soon" situation. We have replaced the ignition module to no avail, skipped the next one and put an AC Delco and 13 months ago we put in a remanufactured PCM from Dorman ( Only Dorman AC Delco) has them. So...

    Keeping up with the times.

Well I too have a flip phone, and I'm 67, but I take driver improvement courses. I just finished a senors are a hard-headed bunch. I still use the skills I got from a Defensive drive course I took 10 years ago. I suppose that is why I'm so critical of drivers around me. My last job had me on a...

    Keeping up with the times.

I agree 100 %. What, what is it that you have to have to talk about while you're doing 45 mph in a 70mph expressway. Everyone behind you and we all are trying to get around the idiot in 45 mph? GC, can't you either take the next exit or hurry up till you get to where the hole in you work at...

    Keeping up with the times.

Of all the things this truck needs is the good long trip. It's been hard to get a weekend without all of the rain. That's the only thing I'm afraid of, a teenager with a cell phone. And a driver "I'm so sorry doesn't even put a dent of my time sweat and blood spent on this K5 Blazer.

    Keeping up with the times.

My 1988 calls for an AC Delco CR43TS with a 0.35 gap or an AC Delco professional 1 rapid-fire with a 0.45 gap? Side by side they look identical other than the porcelain portion it smooth? The engine runs better and considering that 29 Years ago the AC Delco Professional-1 rapid-fire were;t...

Interior and dash Pad replacement (and finding them)

I used these guys when I rebuilt my interior on my 1988 Blazer. The truck came from SW Texas, and the interior really wasn't bad for a 28 year old interior, but the dash pad was shot from the intense sun heat. ( FWIW the temperature of the sun is 5890 degrees?) But I bought from Justdashes.com...

Like to put a stock tach in my 88 Blazer ?

Yeah, it's got a 4000 RPM tach and the gas gauge is in the tach on the bottom. The more I investigate it I starting to think this isn't going do-able. Maybe a 'A' pillar tach ?

Like to put a stock tach in my 88 Blazer ?

It's a 1986, and I think it was a diesel. I don't know what the bottom left gauge is and upon looking at the LCM catalog, I found I needed a replacement base/cluster holder and I bought 6 more of the clips that snap on holder and the gauges snap into the holder and make contact with the grid. I...

Like to put a stock tach in my 88 Blazer ?

It was listed as 1979 to 1990. I have a new oil pressure gauge and the overall Lt. Blue gauge cluster housing is in very good condition. Yet it has an odd gauge in it. I'm not going to use it, but I've never seen one and I'm wondering what it is. But what I need to know is what do I need for...

Like to put a stock tach in my 88 Blazer ?

What do I need to do this job ? I bought a good instrument cluster off ebay with a tach, and I already have a good housing, so I bought a printed circuit for a Blazer with a Tach, and dam% sure their different. One is 2 leads short of all 18, it's only got a gas gauge and the 18 leads go I think...

    350 tbi problem???

OK, not to step on anyone's toes, OBD-1 is not a dumb system, it is just the first. Just like we have MS windows now, back in the eighties we used DOS. I have two trucks a 1990 Silverado 1500 and a 1988 K5 Blazer. Both have OBD-1. So, when you start the truck does the "Service Engine Soon"...

Hope you took a good look right at the steering box ? When I restored my 90 Silverado, it was OK, but my 88 K5 Blazer it had a crack at the corner of the steering box. We welded it up and LMC seller a chassis support kit. All you do it take off the steering, or just move it out of the way, and...

my new (first) vette, or my wifes? LOL

Their really not too bad, ya gotta keep in mind the EPA and their never ending quotas. I owned a 79 L48. It's not a power house mine was pushing 195 HP, but the next year you could only buy a Corvette in California with a 305 ? Is that leather ? I went all the way with mine and won a second...

    Impossible fix for a Code 42 !

My friend said that this will fix 70% of your code 42 issues ! Sure as HeL& with mine. I should mention that the biggest impact to the idling, running and performance aspect has been the AC Delco rapid fires plugs and the GM Performance wires. I forgot to add the ignition Module part # AC Delco...

    Impossible fix for a Code 42 !

I'm new here, but I wanted to shear my experience dealing with a problem I was having with my 1988 K5 Blazer which I spent the last 2 years restoring. My 88 Blazer with a 350 ci. has had a code 42 which totally baffled myself and the shop I use. Tried everything, but I finally got rid of the...
