    Engine runs hot

I’m just gonna bite the bullet and throw a new water pump and decent radiator on. Do TBI engines have AC delete belts? I don’t have my AC hooked up and the compressor constantly makes noise and just creates more work for the engine to spin

    Engine runs hot

Pretty sure the water pump is original. I’m gonna eventually replace the head gaskets but they don’t seem to be causing an issue

    Engine runs hot

I’m gonna check the timing again but last I checked it was 0 as it should, there is no fan shroud, and just a battered old trans cooler in front of it

    Engine runs hot

I replaced both CT sensors with the thermostat, I did check the timing a long time ago and it looked about right but I should check it again. Never thought about the timing. I’m gonna upgrade to a bigger radiator soon

    Engine runs hot

Oh and when it reaches like 230-240 it'll throw a service engine soon light and the truck instantly runs way rich and bogs down, and the code is just a continuous blinking

    Engine runs hot

My '87 TBI 350 constantly runs at 210 degrees F, no more, no less. It heats up fast when cold. It likes to push 260 at high speeds going up hills, and at idle it slowly slowly raises past 210. It has a single aftermarket electric fan. The radiator looks stock and it has a slight weep below the...

Tired 350 TBI, suggestions to wake it up a bit?

Now that I think about it, it didn’t, the engine/trans are out of a 1990 suburban. Was there any changes from 1987 to like 1991 for the TBI engines or 700R4’s? I’m starting to question whether having the original computer for the original TBI is messing up the engine in it now

Tired 350 TBI, suggestions to wake it up a bit?

Where do those wires run? I’d like to hook it back up

Tired 350 TBI, suggestions to wake it up a bit?

So I found 3 snipped wires coming from a plug in the driver’s side of the 700R4 transmission, purple, yellow and green wires. I was searching for electrical connectors on rock auto and it seems to match the connector to a torque converter clutch solenoid, does this sound accurate? If so I have...

That’ll be the next thing I order

Tired 350 TBI, suggestions to wake it up a bit?

I am bringing this thread back from the dead for a little bit, over the past couple months I’ve been doing a lot of work to the TBI, these are the new parts: O2 sensor, EGR valve, EGR solenoid, IAC, both coolant temp sensors, thermostat, new thermostatic fan controller for my electric fan (still...

    What are these?

    Figured that

    What are these?

    That is correct :dogpile:

    What are these?

The first vacuum line was always like that, it is connected to the brake pedal assembly. Is that for cruise control? The second one coming out of the intake was flapping in the breeze and creating a major vacuum leak in the engine making it run like sh*t so I stuck a bolt in it. Looks pretty...

    Stiff gas pedal/odd shifting

I’m gonna take a look later when I’m home and have time to inspect it

    Stiff gas pedal/odd shifting

I changed out the pedal assembly, don’t think I changed out the throttle cable. That could be it

    Stiff gas pedal/odd shifting

I'll have to take a closer look at mine later but as far as I know mine is seated correctly. My throttle cable is at the top of the bracket and then I assume the TV cable is the bottom cable on the bracket but I'm just not sure how to adjust it or check if it's the issue

    Hi there!

    Stiff gas pedal/odd shifting

I've replaced the whole gas pedal assembly and lubricated it on my 87 V10, still is very very stiff but never sticks. It takes a very slow and easy foot to give it just the right amount of gas for stopping/going. I accidentally screech the tires all the time and the tires just want to spin and...

    God Awful Road Noise

Just took out a body lift and the truck has polyurethane bushings, nothing is touching the engine/tranny/transfer case. Polyurethane bushings might be a small culprit for the terrible ride quality and slight vibration

    God Awful Road Noise

It's at the garage today being worked on and inspected because I don't have the time and patience and tools to replace them myself, so I should be getting a call today and hopefully nothing else is damaged

    God Awful Road Noise

Just went out, jacked the truck up and felt for play. The drivers side front acts like there’s no wheel bearing even there and it takes Hulk to spin the wheel and the passenger’s side is hard to turn as well but has no play

    God Awful Road Noise

The power steering pump has a slight slight leak I believe but I checked the fluid this morning after driving it and she's topped off

    God Awful Road Noise

Update: The noise is only getting worse, but here's what it's doing. The noise and vibration increases when I make right hand turns, and while it's going straight, but when I make left hand turns or make a slow left turn on a windy road the noise/vibration completely goes away. I'm thinking it's...
