Only other thing I’ve done is an oil change. I wondered if I added enough oil for it to deep into spark plug wells, but didn’t see any. Plugs seemed fine too. It only started shortly after oil change. I know it needs a head gasket job.- emtrichel

A lot of you guys helped me out with an overheating problem originating from a bad water pump seal and I thank those of who you helped me out. I now have a new problem. I appreciate the guidance! I’ll do all of that. I did check engine oil cold again today. It hit “Add 1 qt” mark so I’ll do that. The dipstick was on the right side next to the second cylinder from the front (I believe it would be number 4 cylinder). Back to the P/S pump. The sound is gone now...- emtrichel

Alright, got a new issue. After putting everything back together and tight I went for a drive. No squealing, no noise, no leaks. Biggest thing I noticed is that every now and then, the power steering will go out. Is this a belt issue, or the pump itself?- emtrichel

I'm back! Forgive my absence, been on the road! So, water pump is installed, coolant leak is completely gone (couple drips under the truck, assuming from residual coolant on the frame). Yes, I did check the wrong dipstick! Rookie move, I know. But the oil dipstick was also not where it was...- emtrichel

Used green coolant and didn't see green in the oil. Also, no milkiness whatsoever in the oil but I didn't check the cap. Picked up new water pump w/ gaskets and new bolts. Will update when I'm done installing water pump.- emtrichel

Well, I tightened up the water pump. Put a gallon of coolant in. Made it about 2 miles before it started to smoke and lost power. Turned around, truck shut off. I think the water pump may be entirely missing at least one bolt, but I’m not sure. What else could cause it to overheat so quickly?- emtrichel
