    2/4 drop wheel sizing

I think a staggered looks best imo. Front 15x8 with 4in backspace 245/60/15 tire Rear 15x10 with 5in backspace 295/50/15 tire. If you want a slightly taller tire go with 255/60/15 275/60/15

    Auto floor to column shift

Since you are getting another column, try to find one on a truck with all the pieces intact from column to trans so you can get all the parts you need as well as see how the parts go together.

    DJM Drop Spindles Rotor Size?

Remove your rotor and see if it matches. It will take all of 10 minutes to find out.

Anyone here done a long bed to short bed conversion?

I was also thinking that overdrive on top of overdrive.....i. e. 8th gear, would be to high for the low end torque to be useable.

Anyone here done a long bed to short bed conversion?

Yes it would, I just was curious because your original post seemed like you you didn't know a 4L80 was an overdrive tranny. My mistake. LOL

Minor problem became large with McGaughy spindle

Yes sir MHarvey, I do remember. I would recommend getting some CPP spindles for 1.25 rotors. I put a set of those on my 78 with zero issues.

what year truck did i buy?? experts needed!!

I haven't read the whole thread but here are a few things to look for. Front crossmember that has the proportioning valve bolted to it has big holes in it from 81-87 and is solid from 73-80. This is the same with the crossmember between the leaf spring hangers. Pull off your gauge bezel and...

    73-74 Bowtie

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=439104 Well I hate to say you are wrong but with all due respect you are. The 73-74 grille bowtie is not a bolt in piece, in fact it is a thin embossed piece of metal that is affixed to the grille with adhesive on to the bowtie block thats...

    73-74 Bowtie

I don't think you can get just the sticker for the bowtie for the 73-74 grille but the new repop 73-74 grille has a great new bowtie sticker on it. Its made by Keyparts Inc. Look them up, maybe they will sell the stickers,

    Vent window years

71 ain't going to fit. You need 81-87/91

Not sure which core support to buy

If you want to keep the front clip as is you can get any 81-87/91 core support and swap it in. If you want to return it to a 78 you will need a 73-80 complete front clip as well as windshield wiper studs and bumper.

    Newbie trying to drop Dually

I need a few measurements to see what you need to do. 1. Axle tube diameter. 2. Leaf spring pack thickness(pics of leaf springs also). 3. Top of leaf spring pack to bottom of frame rail(not the bumpstop pad or bracket). Taking this measurement twice, once with no trailer and once with a loaded...

    G-body Headers on a Square??

From what I hear, long tube 2nd gen camaro headers fit as well as 3rd gen Chevelle headers. They tuck much better than long tube truck headers.

Minor problem became large with McGaughy spindle

Do you think the parts store could have given you the wrong calipers or rotors? Fwiw...my 78 has CPP drop spindles for 1.25in rotors with no issues.

Minor problem became large with McGaughy spindle

Im really curious as to why you had to grind any part if the spindles. Did they by chance send you the wrong spindles? Mine needed absolutely no modifications on my 82 chevy with 1in rotors and 15x6.5(4.25in bs) rallys. My neighbor didnt have any issues either on his 85 GMC with 15x8(4in bs)...

minor inconvenience with McGauhhy's drop spindles

Ive never had to grind anything off of any spindles and I do have a set of McGaughys for a 1" rotors. You will have to slightly bend the hard part of the brake hose for it to clear the ball joint.
