    C10 Unbalanced F/R

When I purchased my 84 C10, the rear brakes would always skid before stopping. I replaced front cylinders, drums, shoes, rear cylinders, master cylinder, combination valve and hoses. Virtually everything but hard lines and rotors. Nothing helped. While sourcing the components, I discovered that the...

Is a Spark Plug...a Spark Plug??

I am using flat top pistons; I don't think I'll be in danger of then hitting the plugs regardless. The heads, I have been told, are Brodix clones, and the machine shop from which I purchased recommended the NGK R5671-8 which is the same as the NGK 4554 recommended by Brodix. That is a...

Among other odd character quirks, Sheldon cold not recognize sarcasm. It is a recurring theme throughout the show's run.... Should you ever decide to sample the show, view episodes from the earlier years... Its humor steadily declined in the past few now in its 12th season..........

    Part Identification

That is a thermal vacuum switch. It was designed to reroute vacuum to or from various devices when the engine reached a preset temperature. Generally part of the myriad of vacuum lines and devices for pollution control. May have controlled vac to EGR, exhaust dampers, distributor, air cleaner...

I had a 79 Z28 that was set up like that. It turned 'bout 1K rpms per 20mph. #K @ 60mph had her whining pretty good. Might have had smaller tires, can't remember. Online calculators indicate I should do 75mph@3K rpms. Ultimate goal is to have a T56 or maybe a stout 5 speed OD...

Is a Spark Plug...a Spark Plug??

The 7516 is apparently for use with cast iron heads (.46 reach)......I have aluminum (.75 reach)...... Maybe the cold range is to dissipate heat to the aluminum heads faster?? I have Hedman headers. They were about the only ones I could find which were designed for use with mechanical clutch...

After reading that I needed to use a Melanized gear distributor with my LT4 Hot Roller Cam, I opted for the MSD Streetfire. I bought a factory refurb off old ol' ebay for under a C-note. The Skip White would have cost me that much by the time I swapped out the gear. I did see a Streetfire on...

Is a Spark Plug...a Spark Plug??

In my engine build, I need 14mm reach plugs. For my aluminum heads, the machine shop recommends NGK R5671A-7 or 8. I understand that the -7 or 8 signifies heat ranges, with 8 being colder than 7, In order to give better clearance around the headers, I would benefit from the use of shorty plugs...

    Pilot Bearing

Yup. I've seen bread and paper soaked in water to keep the water from just squirting out. The truck it came out of was automatic, but it was not the original engine........ No serial # (S/N on a sticker...) so I couldn't track it to its roots........

    Pilot Bearing

The 350 which I purchased has a needle pilot bearing in the crank. Any chance this is reusable? The time is now to replace it, I guess. I've seen some neat tricks to remove pilot bearings, like grease or wet paper pieces to exert hydraulic pressure to remove the bearings. Should these work on...

Should I just transfer the distributor in the existing 305? Dunno if advance specs would be optimal.. There is a distributor that came with the 350, but out of a 93 C1500. It used an external coil. Maybe that would work with the 84 cap/coil??
