    F Body Column into C10

I do not have pics. Ebay has a F bod tilt manual column for reasonable. C10 floor shift tilt consoles are hard to come by and tend to be very pricey.............

    Valve Covers..The Next Learning Curve

I have aftermarket Brodix clones.... I just read in an article on Super Chevy that wide body roller rocker arms are for perimeter bole valve covers only. Looks like an exchange is in the near future.... Like I said...learning curve!

    Valve Covers..The Next Learning Curve

Well. I purchased a set of tall OEM style center bolt valve covers. Center bolts won't line up with the holes in the heads.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr Looks kike the old style flange bolt valve covers for me.

Auto to Manual Tilt Column Modification

I would like a tilt column in my 84 C10. I have a floor shift. Is it possible and how involved it it to remove the shift collar from the auto steering column and replace w/manual collar ? Is it doable at all?? Or, not worth the hassle?? Interesting to note that my '79 to '84 illustrated parts...

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

It is also interesting to note that, having tried almost every method of bleeding the brakes, the ONLY method that achieves good pedal pressure was gravity bleeding!

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

Yup. I knew that, thanks! At this time I value the $50.00 more. After all, the truck is what it is regardless as to how it was built.........

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

Wish I had the sticker...that would have cleared up a LOT ! The guy I purchased it from pretty much bought it and parked it. It sat for about 10 years before I rescued it. No mention of a braking problem, and I was not able to drive pre purchase. But, I cannot imagine that this problem existed...

Not on the C10.....but.... I HAD one! I recall seeing that that setup DID exist on G10 vans.

What really piques my curiosity is.....how did the truck get this way in the first place??

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

Maybe from the factory, but not in aftermarket. GM 18008084 for the JB3 system does not appear to be available. GM 18008085 for the JB5 system is. The prop valve that was in the faulty hybrid setup works perfectly in the homogeneous system. Or, IS there a prop valve for a mixed system??

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

Yes sir. The master cylinder is common to both systems. The dual diaphragm booster aids in applying the required increase in force to operate the JB5 brakes. As higher pressure is required to actuate the rear brakes, and the prop valve is common to both systems, how does one account for the...

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

I know this to be incorrect. That is how I discovered that I had JB5 front brakes: I purchased the JB3 calipers and they did not fit.I am trying to navigate the GM parts manual to obtain part numbers. I did make an assumption there, as I could not understand calipers with the same piston...

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

ps...the rotors are the same diameter. I can't remember, but pads may be the same. That is where the similarity ends. Rotors are different thickness, Calipers are different Bearings are different Spindles are different Some parts houses list different brake hoses. And, the vacuum booster is...

    C10 Unbalanced F/R

Don't think that I didn't lay awake at night asking myself the very same question......... The calipers are different, of course, to handle the thicker rotors. They must be metered differently internally from the JB3 calipers to reduce the flow of fluid. This would be necessary as the larger...

Is a Spark Plug...a Spark Plug??

Hedman #69092 5/8" long tube without the A.I.R. pump....... #69093 with pump Supposedly the A/C compressor bracket has to be modified...I haven't got that far yet. Good luck!

Is a Spark Plug...a Spark Plug??

Yup 10.1:1..... I have good suggestions on NGK plugs, but I want to use the Accel shorty plugs for header clearance. Those are limited to 2 choices with the needed reach and thread, and those are both projected tips and resistor. The machine shop man said they should work fine, so I have them on...

Is a Spark Plug...a Spark Plug??

OOPS...sorry Guys......10.1:1 The "0" and "9" keys too close together for my fat digits........ I did manage to find a short spark plug socket. 5/8 hex and short body that the plug protrudes thru, and hex on outside to turn with a wrench. I had conjured that one up, but nobody locally carries...

    Let's talk oil

I own a different breed of truck which I purchased new on 1997. I have run Valvoline Full Synthetic since the 1000mile change. Never a hiccup in 270K miles........ For my '84 C10 355 engine, I may use full synthetic as well (roller cam) but it has been recommended that I run 20w-50 but...
