    TBI to spread-bore manifold adapter

This adapter allows use of stock (or modified) GM TBI on a spread bore or q-jet manifold. I bought it for my vortec 383 but I ended up using the adapter that GM used on the early 454 TBI. The GM one is taller and has a vacuum port that I needed. But this is a well machined unit that I would...

    TransDapt TBI Spacer

Anyone want one? I have one that fits the bore of a 350. $10 plus shipping. Paypal is best. I'll look for the screws that came with it, but not sure I have them. Definitely don't have the two gaskets...

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

I think I finally got this problem ironed out today! Minimum idle air was misadjusted. Fortunately my re-man and bored throttle body already had the cap over the throttle stop screw removed, so I didn't have to worry about that. It made following the procedure here really easy. After getting...

GM Service Manuals and Corvette Books

Just PM’d you - I’m in for a vette book. I have a ‘76 so it’d be cool to have a book from that era. (Even tho I have a bunch of of other vette books)

    NP 241 Rebuild needed?

Just closing the loop on this one, finally got it resolved: simple case of linkage needing adjustment. I took the shifter console plate off so I could observe how it operated in the gate and saw that in 4-Hi the shift lever was bumping against the metal gate before it could go all the way into...

Running an Engine outside the vehicle

Sounds like the cradle is a good solution, but for another option start at post #141 in my 383 build thread for simple homemade run-stand that I built with (mostly) stuff I had laying around. Worked like a charm, engine didn't try and lift up at all.

    My new to me c10

Cool truck. I'm with the majority here that votes to keep it mostly stock. One thing I'd consider if it were mine is going to a 292. I've always thought those were cool engines - maybe even with a 4-barrel intake and some other goodies. Where you at in WA? I'm in Vancouver....

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

It's rock solid at idle. 650 rpm steady once it's warm. But I've still been thinking IAC and/or TPS. I'm pretty sure I have both as extras in a box somewhere. Would be pretty easy to swap one at a time to see if there's any change. But I think it's something in the tune that's causing it...

    Anyone rocking S10's?

What was the last year of the S-10 "squarebody"? Do they get that title too? ;) My son is only 11 but I've been thinking about an S-10 square project for the two of us for a while now. Desired model: extended cab pickup, 4x4, 4.3, 5 speed. What was 5 speed - Getrag? I'm guessing they're way...

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

Finally got the exhaust patched up today. I showed him where it was and he agreed and touched up the weld on the spot. Sounds awesome now. Knocking off problems one by one. Although I think a new one popped up this week - seems like I'm getting a fluid leak from the steering box. Going to...

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

Finally found my exhaust leak. Started it up cold today and used my finger to feel around the welds before it got too hot. Found a steady stream of exhaust out the weld on the drivers side, just below the manifold collector. Heading back to the exhaust shop tomorrow - hopefully he can patch...

Awesome. Better coolers for both tranny and engine are on my list for the future.

Cool. Do you have a crimper for hoses and flare tool? How much would a set up for that be? I went to a custom hose/tube shop and it would have been $150-$200 for the two hoses. Thanks but no thanks. I might bite the bullet and buy the Delco set. I ended up cutting off the end section...

    88 K5 Ornament

I’ve been thinking about trying to refurb mine - looks like it was shot with a BB gun on one side but probably just a rock) Seems like it would just be a matter of replacing plexi glass on that side. Thoughts?

    383 Vortec/TBI Build Thread

Not much. Been fighting two issues: 1) tranny leak, turns out it was just a bad seal at the dipstick tube. Finally got that resolved yesterday. I think. 2) engine oil cooler lines. Replaced both but with dorman not delco - junk. Aluminum flare fittings stripped right out of the bag...

    4l80e leaking and draining

Pretty sure the leak is coming from the dipstick seal. Felt around up there and it was very wet and I can see how it would drip off there and travel around the gasket, since that surface slopes down toward the back. And I had a hard time getting the dipstick tube in after I installed tranny -...

    4l80e leaking and draining

Yeah, doesn't seem like there's much above there to leak, but I'm going to be looking a little deeper this weekend. Thanks.

    4l80e leaking and draining

Yeah, I'll take a better look this weekend. Both old pan and new pan, leak is in same place: back edge and PS towards the back. Doesn't seem like there's much above there to leak?

    4l80e leaking and draining

What the hell am I doing wrong? New oem pan and gasket and leaks like a sieve after it sits for a week. Torqued bolts in a staggered pattern in two increments - I think to around 12 or 15 ft-lbs. I put a light coating of grease on both the pan and tranny surfaces. Bad idea? Maybe acting as...

More starter woes, or is it?

Yeah, I'm thinking it's the solenoid or the trigger wire connection at the solenoid. That old delco is in pretty good shape but the bakelite cap on the end of the solenoid sustained some damage at some point in it's life and there was a small chip missing. I sealed it up with some silicone...

More starter woes, or is it?

My direct drive Delco (early 70's vintage, I believe, with a cast iron nose) is working fine about 90% of the time. The other 10% I get nothing at all, I don't think I'm even getting a solenoid click. At first I thought I was getting solenoid click, but I think I'm hearing my aux battery...

Sm465 locked up in granny gear

70s GMs too - my '76 Vette is that way. I hardly ever let anyone else drive it, but when I do it always throws them off.

    1991 v2500 rear driveshaft length

Sorry it took so long, but I finally was able to get some measurements tonight. I'm at 49" or so just like the other two. Front is 28.5" I also have a driveshaft sitting in my shop from a '90 4x4 burb with TH400 - it's measuring out at 50 3/4"

    4l80e leaking and draining

Got the new pan in today - looks nice and no leaks so far! did not have to lower the exhaust - was able to position the pan resting on the y-pipe and then maneuvered the filter in place and wiggled it up into the intake.

    4l80e leaking and draining

Yeah I saw some of those in my search and was interested, but the price turned me off. Seems like at least $150? I think my plan for longevity is to use a torque wrench when I install the new steel one!
