GMT800 diff swap in a square

Any special u-joint and did you have to change the prop valve?

    Auxiliary Battery Tray

Good point. I've had it like that for 2yrs now but added protection would be a plus.

    Engine mounts and A/C

I would change to a high mount ac bracket. I did this for my 6.0 ls swap. No need to modify the frame. Can use the stock 82 ac style compressor (R4). ICT makes a bracket along with holley. Should work with the factory 5.3 truck pulleys.

GMT800 diff swap in a square

Hello. I've been researching axle swaps for my k5. I have a 14bSF from a 4x4 gmt400. It will widen the rear axle to basically the same width as the stock front axle. I was also thinking of converting to disk at the same time since the drums are shot. I then thought about using the gmt800 with...

    Auxiliary Battery Tray

My donor came with the same fuse box as yours. I rewired mine and removed as much as possible. Also fabd a bracket to hold my computer.

    Auxiliary Battery Tray

Mine is specifically from an Escalade 6.0. The 5.3s have the standard vortec cover, just the center part which says vortec. The Denali also has a similar 3 piece cover but says vortec 6000

    Auxiliary Battery Tray

Right, the military version puts both on the right side. Probably easier to put them in series to gain 24v.

    Auxiliary Battery Tray

Right, the 73-80 parts are harder to find. Here's what mine looks like installed.

    Auxiliary Battery Tray

That's what I used for my swap in my 82 k5 to move the batt to the driver's side. Came from a diesel square.

    Congrats to flon3y

That's good to hear. My friend is in the process of selling a restored 75 280z on BaT. A lot of paperwork but seems to be worth it.

Zero Rate for 1" added in rear?

Yes this is common in k5s and suburbans. I have the same lift kit you do on my 82 k5. I thought about the zero rate but the u bolts would be too short. I instead used 1/2 flat bar from a local supplier and new leaf spring center bolts. Maybe $20 in materials and didn't have to wait for shipping...

Dana 44/10 bolt wheel stud swap

Haha, I hear you. My kit came with new perches and shock tabs so I'll install both. Good to know the tabs are that close I can use as a reference. Is your k5 stock height? I may put a little angle since I have a 3" lift. Also thinking about disk brakes while I'm there. Thanks for looking for...

Dana 44/10 bolt wheel stud swap

@bucket when you installed the 14B SF I assume you had to weld on your spring perches and shock tabs. Did you keep the stock pinion angle or rotate a few degrees? Also if you can find the part number for the front studs that would be great.

K20 shocks? Single or dual front and brand?

My 82 K5 came factory with quads and I have them today. I used a 3" Tuff country EZ lift, springs all the way around. The shocks are Skyjacker black max. Not sure if quads make it better but definitely look good.

Look at this pic......what is it and what is my truck missing.......

It's for the fuel injection, my 87 has the same only one.

Dana 44/10 bolt wheel stud swap

Sounds good. I've found several with that size. Now looking for the front. These are harder since the knurl is further away from the head.

Dana 44/10 bolt wheel stud swap

I've been looking at 1/2-20 too as it seems to have the most options. For the rear I found 610-569 and 610-379 both just under 2" with slightly different knurls. Stock 14SF 14mm are 1.5" long but I can use deeper lugs or I may just convert to disk and need longer anyway. I'll check the ARP ones...

Should I add CAT converter back to my 87

My 87 r10 has a cat. Magnaflow hi flow cat and muffler. Also have the 350 tbi. It does help but as others mention, you seem to have an exhaust leak. BTW, mine had the original cat when I replaced. It was the size of a briefcase. I know it was restive. Your truck probably runs better without...

Dana 44/10 bolt wheel stud swap

I never thought of using a smaller stud on the rear to match the front. Just assumed I should make the front larger. Not my first choice to drill the hub. As you mention it could out of center.

Dana 44/10 bolt wheel stud swap

Hello, Has anyone swapped the front 7/16 wheel studs to 9/16 or 14mm? The 14B SF rear axle I have for my k5 came with 14mm and would like them to match when I install. Any part numbers for the studs? Will I need to drill the rotors? Thanks.
