Valve seals for camel hump heads?

@Ricko1966 looks like those might be on their way out. Only some various smaller websites offer them, O’Reillys says unavailable. Of the websites they are listed, they are listed as both .530 and .610. Do you know which one is right? Thanks.

Valve seals for camel hump heads?

Sounds like a plan. Those don’t need any mods or machining? Sorry, there’s just a lot of information floating around out there. I need to find a good video to watch. Actually, I’m going to make an effort to find one today that explains it all. It’s not rocket science, I’ve just never had to mess...

Valve seals for camel hump heads?

I pulled my plugs to check the color, and I noticed the dreaded oil on the threads. The outside of the heads below the valve cover gaskets are dry. It does not visibly smoke from the tailpipe. One plug looked a little black, but not coked up with oil. The rest were normal. Engine has less than...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ordered up some transmission lines from Inner Tubes, and today I’m going to stop by the parts store to pick up some ATF hose and FI clamps so I can make the connection from the external cooler to the radiator trans cooler provisions. If anyone has a flaring tool that they recommend let me know...

    rebuilt sbc Oil pressure

Wix is a good filter. Can’t speak to to the filter bypass specifically, but if it hasn’t been changed and replaced since break in, I certainly would. Do you know what pressure it was running before rebuild?

    rebuilt sbc Oil pressure

Morning coffee spitballing here. Maybe pull the pan and check the oil pump and make sure the the pickup is nice and tight on the pump housing and/or not clogged with break in lube. Would give you a chance to look in the bottom of the pan and look for debris anyway. How soon after break- in was...

    C20 suburban lowering issues

I feel like I’m one guy that got away with it, mine seem appropriate. But then again, I never ran mine in isolation without a stiffer shock (KYB Gas-a-just) so that may be masking what would otherwise be too soft a spring. Mine are CPP 2.5” lowering springs.

Thanks! We’ll try that. We did try manipulating the shifts at the transmission itself and no dice there. The guy is out of town this week so we won’t do our usual day out there, we’ll take a look next week.

    Transmission line locations

Never mind about the thread size- Cold Case website says 5/16 inverted flare. Still have my ears open if anyone has input as far as flow direction.

    Transmission line locations

Rather than start a new thread, found this one. When I got my truck, the radiator trans lines were already disconnected. The radiator was shot for the most part anyway, so I had replaced it with a cold case aluminum. I utilized the existing aftermarket cooler that was already there in front...

    Radiator condenser combo.

Cold case has them in stock. https://www.coldcaseradiators.com/product/77-87-gm-pickup-truck-21-ls-swap-aluminum-performance-radiator?sku=GMT556A21LS I think if you use the code “Vice grip” in checkout you’ll get free shipping.

    Dampener (Torsional Vibration Dampener/Harmonic Balancer)

Hey, happy to do some digging- I just copied and pasted what some other dude wrote (sorry, should’ve been more clear about that).

    Dampener (Torsional Vibration Dampener/Harmonic Balancer)

@DoubleDingo I got to thinking about this and turns out the harmonic balancer /timing tab varies a lot over the years. I did a quick google search and this is one of the more helpful posts over on NastyZ28. They used the 1:30 position and the 12:00 position interchangably from the late 70s...

What have you done to your square lately??

Well I’ll be dipped. I knew I had purchased a Napa spare for the glove box- after I read your post I went and looked and there it is-TP45.

What have you done to your square lately??

Good question. I’ve thought about that. At this particular trailhead, there’s always tons of people around so it would be extremely risky on their part. I thought about rigging in a toggle switch hidden under the dash that would disable the ignition. I guess a guy could just take the orange wire...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yesterday I switched out the ignition module since it was old, and wanted to try a more “aggressive “ one from Summit. Yeah, probably didn’t make a difference. Cleaned up the battery cable routing where it was just starting to rub a tad. Oh, and disassembled the Edelbrock fuel filter to check...

Well, project update with pics. We went back out to the county and picked up where we left off. We took out the spark plugs after taking out the weird heat shields that bolt to the frame. Then we soaked the cylinders with Aerokroil. True to my nature, the straw popped off the nozzle and...

Loss of e-brake after driving on rough roads

So, in remembering my own, I know it’s a maze of hooks that slot into the frame and guide the cables while keeping some semblance of tension on them. It’s my thought that there was a little slack in your system, allowing one to bounce or rattle out of the frame, and that would explain why you...

What have you done to your square lately??

Got the TransGo finished up today. Little bit of an unforeseen battle- the 2/3 plug was stuck, so it took me a while to figure it out. Other than that, pretty smooth sailing. I didn’t take a ton of pictures, as I was covered in ATF much of the time. The drain plug pan is installed, and I used a...
