    Lunati Cams

Do you have sources of retro roller cams not being reliable for 150k miles ? I didnt see a cam in there that I thought would make for low vacuum. I use this to help get an idea for cams, 230 degrees should come in under your stall and prevent lean bucking, but contacting a cam manufacturer...

    NV4500 swap info

sounds like the cd009 transmision, I was looking at that as an option for my vette but by the time you buy the trans, the $1500 adapter plate its the same cost as a a t56.

Champion Iridium plugs at 105000 miles

lol just saying if its not running bad they probably dont need to be changed. They are also the Iridium plugs from the factory, Toyotas are known for not liking after market ignition parts so I run the stock ones till they have to be replaced.

    Awful gas milage.

Few and far in between, if you have a low duration cam and follow the guides about gears, tire sizes and trans ratios you will see it says to have about a 2k cruise speed for the engine to be efficient. Having a cam that starts at idle and a convertor that stalls to about 15-1800(stock-ish) rpm...

    Awful gas milage.

I prefer a cam with .500 lift other wise your are leaving power on the table.. machining the heads will allow for more spring choices, but with them on the engine means the cost of gaskets, downtime, more work and no added benefit over buying special springs to clear.

Is 1.5* Positive Camber Too Much - If So, How Do I Adjust?

I went with the large ones so if I needed more than .25 movement I wouldnt have to take the front end apart. My theory on it was if I didnt need that much I could center the large portion of the cam to the front of the ball joint creating more negative caster which is good for high speed...

    Awful gas milage.

I did the k1103 cam with vortecs and it had alot better power than the TBI cam and heads and I wasnt even close to being done with tuning it. With that bigger cam I would thinks its going to be a lot of fun.

1990 Suburban 350 TBI Fuel Pump

if you have any plans to increase performance use a delco/delphi pump from a tpi camaro or 96+ vortec truck.

    Electric fan conversion

yes it is, it was cheaper than buying a sheet of stainless steel and bending it and it is the correct size to cover the entire radiator on the vette. Someone else came up with the idea and nicknamed it Pan shroud

    Electric fan conversion

I liked this because its simple to hook up, doesnt take alot of space and cheap, the fan they use is supposedly the same motor as the Taurus but it bolts to the shroud allowing it to be easily removed and custom shroud made. Here is the one I made for my vette

    EFI Fuel Pump Options

that is a factory replacement pump that meets the flow and pressure needed for a stock style swap. Internal pumps are nice because the gas keeps the pump cool and they are much harder to hear while driving. There are cheaper pumps that fit but do not supply enough pressure or gph of fuel. go...

    Electric fan conversion

should do the job I recommend you wire it in with a Volvo relay. It has 2 inputs to enable the fan high and low, and also eliminate the 3rd relay needed to switch between high and low. Using a BMW 2 temp switch will make this easy to install. this is probably the best write up I have seen for...

    Working over a motor

If you are still looking go to local hang outs or race tracks and ask guys what machine shop they recommend. Its a double edged sword because you will find a good shop builds lots of racers engines usually keeping them busy and requiring you to wait for your turn. I had mine rebuilt by a shop...

    Working over a motor

yes, our societyi s gravitating towards a replace it instead of repair it culture. That machine sop probably doesnt like to mess with used parts because of their liability and or people just bring them bad stuff and bad mouth them. Doing stock rebuilds with used parts is cost effective for you...

    Awful gas milage.

you are not using lock up the torque convertor is still slipping and is not being efficient costing you mpg. stock tbi systems are great for stock engines, once you start modifying them it becomes a pita to tune and this is with the latest upgrades. Tuning them like they had to back in the...

    Body Work & Welding Options

They are but they are not the same quality of Lincoln for obvious reason. A friend bought a 220v one back in 2010 and it server well for everything he has used it for, it still works today. I personally do not like fluxcore, the weld isnt as nice requires more cleanup. Brazing thin sheet metal...

    DIY paint??

best way to do this is to sign up for night Collision repair classes at community college, they will teach you how to do the repairs and paint. Last I heard you can use your own car for repairs in the class as long as you pay for materials and follow their rules.

TBI '87 R2500 454 Suburban Runs Like Crap

Im assuming its installed by now. It wasnt a quality issue but definetly is a performance issue, the stock cam was just all wrong for that engine and the compression is low. Going with an aftermarket can get you in right rpm range and more importantly fill the cylinders up better.
