Thoughts on running 10 year old tires?

Firestone won't even sell or install used tires anymore due to liability. I found that out back when I needed to replace my spare 2 years ago. Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    Ball joint tool

In the shop I matched up a deep impact socket with the ball joint and hammered it out of the knuckle. I've never used a press. Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    Didn't pass emissions. Help?

I'ed convert to fuel injection. The way they keep adding more alcohol to gasoline eventually carburated engines won't want to run due to all the carburetor seals getting destroyed by the alcohol. Clayton Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    Belt sizes

I got mine off a 92 GMC 2wd 1/2 ton. The fan won't fit my 87's shroud so I need to get a 19 inch reverse rotation fan. I'm going to upgrade to a 115 amp alternator. My serp setup cost $125, hope to install this summer. Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    Belt sizes

It depends on how much adjustment room you have. As long as a belt fit's the Pulley's correctly a shorter, or longer belt will fit as long as the proper tension can be put on it. This Summer the serpentine setup I pulled off a 92 GMC Sierra 5.7 is going on my 87 V-20. Clayton Sent from my...

    I'm taking the plunge....2005 seats in a 76

The gear shift indicator isn't any more of a problem than the loose tilt steering problem. After 33 years of use my tilt won't tighten up anymore and I need to either rebuild, or replace the column. Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    High Beam?

Jazzman has a Saginaw tilt column assembly tutorial in the loose steering column thread. Lots of pictures that show you how to assemble your column. Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    R-12 refridgerant to 134

You shouldn't have to recharge your A/C system unless you have a leak in the system. If it was rebuilt by a shop and everything was done properly it should be fine. Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    Looking to get a winch

The old Warn upright 8000 pounder is a good one. I believe it's a #8274. Had one on my 87 V-20 since 1990. Clayton Sent from my SM-A705U using Tapatalk

    Coolant for C20 w/ 350

I agree, I run Prime Antifreeze which is made by Prestone and it's the green stuff. Flush the system every 2 years. A year ago I warranted out the radiator after 20 years, and this past summer I replaced the heater core. Hopefully the aluminum replacement will last 27 years like the brass one...

    89 350 tbi problems

It's awful hard on our older Chevy's to let them sit undriven. I had to deal with electrical issues when I let my 87 V20 sit undriven for a couple years. A year ago I replaced my drivers side fuel pump and sending unit. I used a Spectre Sending Unit, and a Delphi Fuel Pump. Sent from my...

    Replace thermostat without draining fluid?

I remember when all we had were books to look in for information. I remember making copies of the pages out of the Mitchell manuals at the shop. We didn't get Mitchell on Demand until the nineties. I still remember doing my first timing belt, was a little nervous about doing something wrong...

    Replace thermostat without draining fluid?

The aluminum housings have a habit of warping which causes leakage that sometimes the silicone doesn't seal. I sand the housing gasket surface on a piece of sandpaper that is on a true flat surface like a mirror or a piece of glass. A granite countertop will work too. Sand until the whole mating...
