    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

:laughing1: She has her moments. Here's her other toy..... and another project I have to find time for, somehow, eventually. Inherited from her dad. If money wasn't a thing, I could quit my job and have enough projects to keep me busy full time........ for years. lol

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

We have a new Subaru Forester too. It's fancy, nice to drive, but as one of my buddies puts it...... it has no soul. I usually drive it, just as my commuter, but have been thinking about selling it and picking up another Square (pickup or K5 maybe). In the warmer months, I'll take my CJ5 to...

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

Vac boosted brakes, JB7 RPO code. It does have that load sensing valve in the back. Whether or not it still works, who knows? I'll probably remove it when I do the axle swap, as I'll be replumbing the whole axle anyways. Axle is 74in? across the WMS. Not a C&C axle.

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

YUP! lol She was originally eyeballing newish crew cab duallys, diesel rigs. Obviously I was a tad beside myself at the idea of a $40k 1ton rig to haul kids and groceries. We'd JUST sold her '04 Suburban, which she HATED, but was ideally suited to her needs. I discovered she had weakness for...

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

Theres a lot of factors at play, mainly wheel width and offset, but I'm guessing I'll need a smaller spacer on stock chebby wheels. A buddy's Dodge, (newer, Long bed Mega Cab and DRW conversion) he's running 285-70-17s on OEM wheels withOUT a spacer..... but different beast maybe. I'm looking at...

    Engine mount replacement?

I went nuts sourcing parts when stabbing in the engine back into the wife's '04 Burban. Went to the dealer for some stuff. One of the sensors was made in Serbia, but the thermostat housing was made in Israel. Getting GOOD parts is just a chore these days, and really a total shot in the dark...

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

One headache eliminated, hopefully. Picking up a DRW D70 tomorrow. He had a front D60 too, but it came attached to a standard cab K30 dually. Too much $$$, I didn't need the rest of the truck, and it seemed a shame to gut it just for the axles.... so the plan will be running a front adapter from...

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

I understand how they work in stock form, bolted on plenty in my days, but spacers are pretty common I think when running larger tires. Kinda hard to squeeze two 10in wide (or wider) tires in next to each other on the duals. I do NOT like the idea of bolting on the adapter to widen the track...

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

Hmmm looks like there are some decent tire options in a 255/80-17 and that section width MIGHT work..... maybe. At 33ish tall, probably look ok. Still a bit wider than I'd like to run on a 6 or 6.5 wide wheel, but I have a feeling this is just gonna be one of THOSE journeys. Good enough might be...

    Lifted Dually Suburban wheels/tires?

The wife has taken the leap, she ordered fenders today (from Hannemann Fiberglass. Curious to see what those look like) so it looks like her dream of a Dually Suburban just landed on my to-do list. :banghead: She was looking at adapter kits too, talking to a gal at Arrowcraft. I got home from...

    Heater Blower intermittent?

Swapped out the blower motor, and all seems to be well now. Lot more end play in the shaft of the old motor, though it didn't look that old at all. I guess you just can't get good Chinese parts these days? lol Now onto the next headache and another thread. Dually conversion, apparently that IS...

    Heater Blower intermittent?

The heater fan in the wife's Burb ('89 V2500) has been acting up, and not in a simple way. Some days it's fine. Most days it won't run on any setting, but just when she first gets in the truck. It'll usually suddenly start working 5-10min down the road, or suddenly works just fine (on all fan...

What new tools have you got lately?

They one of those tools that gets used when nothing else will quite do the job, or you KNOW you're in for a fight, so you decide the nuclear option is the best first strike. They WILL do some damage, or ruin hardware.... so not a tool for being gentle. Kind of a replacement for clamping a pair...

What new tools have you got lately?

I got a set of these for work a little while ago, been meaning to buy a set for home. (Cursed myself last weekend for not already doing that) I call them my "Pliers of Destruction". When you want something to move, but it's stripped or otherwise hard to get a purchase on, these WILL grab ahold...

    Original Headlamp Wiring

That stuff wouldn't need or really benefit from a relay anyways. The idea of the relay is so high draw stuff can pull the Amps it needs, (direct from the battery, via the relay) without a voltage drop across long circuit, multiple connections, and other things that generally increase resistance...

    Original Headlamp Wiring

I need to look into this for myself.... since the previous owner stabbed in some relays, but I'm VERY skeptical of their wiring. When I built a relay harness for my CJ5, the "trigger" was the original headlight harness itself. One of the existing headlight plugs got connected to my new harness...

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

I have NO idea. Every set of reman'd calipers I've gotten in recent years came with their own bolt for the banjo fitting, as did these. I never even considered the thread size, just put it together. Seeing the different location/orientation of the banjo fitting on the two different calipers...

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

Well.... great success, so far? I hate torquing axle nuts. Always wonder in the back of my mind if they're too tight/too loose. lol Did the 50lbs while turning, several times, then backed off 1/6-1/4 turn, lined up the washer.... sure. Hope those China bearings hold up. Gravity bled all four...

    Complete ReWiring Theory

Relays get their "trigger" from the original circuit/switch, but draw their load direct from the battery..... that's the general idea at least. The added fuses are generally in line with that feed from batt to relay, since that's where the main load is now. The fuses in the rest of the circuit...

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

About 90% done, 90% to go..... since I still gotta rip the rears apart, go through them, and bypass that weight sensing valve. That's gonna be another day though. Good info for others.....Basically everything Derek/Blue Ox said. If you have 13" drums you have the JB7 brakes and the front pad is...

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

80mm sounds right, just remembering something I read earlier. The pistons are BIG.... but yeah, I'll go measure. Looks to be an all-nighter.... after dinner. I took the "day off" work for this. lol At least the weather is nice.

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

The D153 number was helpful. It's listed on NAPA's site and on their parts, but in the fine print. Until I mentioned it, the counter guy had no idea what I needed. Kept going on about 10in and 12in diameter rotors, and I kept telling him the rotors should be the same, I just need to make sure...

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

Basically the reason I wanted to do the work to swap just the rotors, and keep my hubs and bearings if they aren’t worn. We’ll see. Wife found the socket, thanks to the two old ladies at Oriellys. lol I’ll tear into it tomorrow and see what’s what.

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

So I kinda want to go throw parts at the counter guys at my local Napa. Had my wife call to order parts, tell her I want rotors, wheel studs, bearing seals and brake pads. (Getting ready to yank the hubs, pack bearings, generally look everything over on a "new to us" truck, and install a new...
