Old,doesn't mean bad New,doesn't mean works correctly.

St Stuff like that ( 4 alternators ) is why I have for years had the stuff tested before I leave. Sad that you have to work that way, but ... Hard to escape the China syndrome.

What have you done to your square lately??

Had a weird blower issue tonight - one the way home, both front and rear cut off 3 times and then came back to life. The 3rd time was in front of the house - I opened the hood trying to find out if the compressor was out as well but it kicked back on before I had it open. My guess as to the...

    ‘79 Royal Sierra SWB

Welcome from Houston! Royal Sierra is the GMC Bonanza from what I understand, but nowhere near as widespread. Cool ! Downside is that GMC trim is tougher to come up with. Boo.

Suburban leaf spring choice - sagging rear - question on stock ride height

Ground to top of rear load floor of 30.1 might help. Dimensions of prior year's may help also - I want to look at the 1980 data. Page 4 gives a GT dimension plus 40 inches to the rooftop...

Suburban leaf spring choice - sagging rear - question on stock ride height

If I did this right, the link below will give you some more dimensions to check on page 16. It's from the GM Heritage website. https://www.gm.com/heritage/archive/vehicle-information-kits...

Vintage Air Gen V (5) or replace existing compressor, etc., for 1987 R20 Suburban?

I'd replace what you have. Way simpler to find parts down the road. BTW - that's only the second of that style compressor I have seen - both here on this site. I am used to A6s and R4s . I forget the terminology for that one. RA6, maybe ? *Edit* HD6, I believe. If wrong someone...

    Power Door Lock

I believe the power door lock has constant power- have you checked for power at the switch? Checked for broken wires in the rubber boot that goes between the door and the body? I had that problem once and it was the light blue wire ... HTH!

    Mileage question/opinion

Based on your description of the usage and the engine and drive train it sounds like it is the correct mileage. Brake pad wear, as stated, is a variable. Either way, enjoy ! :)

Running Hot at Highway Speeds with A/C On

The engine works harder at highway speeds so I could see it running hotter on the highway with a plugged radiator. When you have the cap off and look in does it look grungy ? Looks like Rusty is thinking it is a fan clutch issue, however.

    Key stuck in ignition

As a guess, you may have the shift bowl in a bind. Try hanging the column back in place and moving the shifter towards the park position.

    Fluid Changes

Not sure I follow since the higher the number, the greater the viscosity. 10W30 is thicker than 5W30 at low temps as the small number is the "winter" rating and both equal at the high temp side. 10W40 thicker still at high temps, etc etc. Gear oil is in its own class of numbers and so 90W is...

But, you ain't moving without muffler bearings. And, off topic, but don't get ne started on the cost of coolant hoses for a 79 VW Beetle. It's a ripoff.

That is a side marker light. As wired by GM it comes on with the parking lights and would not blink.

    Brake light issues

I am no electrical guru, but , the brake light bulbs and turn signal bulbs for the rear are one and the same. The brake light switch is the one that is above the brake pedal and activated by it. Are you sure the bulbs are the correct ones ? 1157 is the part number.
