Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I was doing both but more looking for solutions to my problem in hopes some of you may have come across my kind of problem. Whether its replacing drums or cutting, etc. If not then this can remind people OE style doesn't necessarily mean proper fit. I had to cut some material off both my...

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I wanted to go with wheels that would look proper for the truck from that era and decided to go with the OE style and have more aggressive tires but not go overkill like it's Mad Max. Some day I hope to fit them on with a bit of work grinding those irritable edges discussed here.

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I bought the rims last year and finally came around to putting them on without checking them once I had them in hand first 30 days thinking it's OE style so there shouldn't be an issue for fit but I learned the hard way. I'm taking a break from them and carrying on with other repairs like...

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

after ruminating on this conversation I feel I have no choice but to help calm people's anxiousness, I decided to post a pic what it will pretty much look like on the road (minus the paper bags and green tape). I'm about 95% done. Yes this is my Frankenstein Monster of a mess with the...

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

It's not even touching the housing. I was conversing with @mlsceo on the mod that needs to be done. One of them is machining down the outer lip with GM stamping of the brake drum because the inner rim is interfering it. It will clear the hub but it has clear the studs.

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I have other repairs that needs addressing for me to get working to drive on the road. I have alternative wheels on that I can test drive and enjoy my project for now. When I feel the urge and motivation to machine down the inner lips interfering with the fit and I get it on I will post on here...

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

It's the inner lips not welded on the inside circumference of the rim dish that's interfering with the drums. You'll have to look close in the pic to see the paint chipped off in those corners.

All four of them took some considerable amount of weights. I did not read how much weights are on each and I do not want to look at those wheels at the moment. Yes those wheels have hurt my feelings! LOL!

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

As it is a spacer would not work as the rim cannot get the studs through to have any threads to use.

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I appreciate the words of encouragement! However I'd rather spend time and energy on getting the other issues like the body to get my project/pet/monster on the road. Plus I mounted tires on my temporary wheels to get this thing mobile. If I have motivation before the end of the year I can quote...

For now temporary rims(pictured) mounted with good used tires and torqued them on the Suburban.

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I looked for my part number the other day and it's obsolete by the looks of it. And I got them early last year. They have one close to what I have but you can't put hub caps on them

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

That was going to be my ultimate solution for all four rims. Grind down the folded inward lips that are not welded on the inside. I need to look inside the drums chamfer circumferences as to how much I can take off on the outside lips. This job will not happen not at least next year because I...

No I did not. No hammering was done in these pictures.

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

I learned something new. Thank you for that information. Now I want to run them after I figure out how to fit them and see how the ride compares to the alternate wheels I will put on for now to get my pet Monster rolling. I wonder if the quality of tires could also contribute to the excess weights?

I wonder if a drum like this would work? Or cheaper to have my surface lip machined down?

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

Because of the tires there are an excess of weights. 33 12.5 R15's. To help solve the mystery

Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

That would be an easy relief of a fix however c10's are 5 studs and my k10's are 6 studs.

It's both. But in this case it would be easier to find a drum that will work for the rim to fit. Or hammer down those tabs where the chipped paint is hitting the drum.

I wish that was the case so I can share in the laugh with you and the others.

They sell oversize studs? I thought they only have the standard size for squarebodies 7/16-20's. And it would be nice if they advertised that part number for that drum too.

I painted them because it is only a protective primer out of the box. I did not want to see rust so soon. Otherwise if it was paint I would've left it the same colour.
