Original Overlander, 1955 Chevy 3800 Van

I understand your pain. Just finished my auction, and about 95% of the trucks have been picked up. 25 years of collecting and 'poof', in 3 months history. As collectors, we can always hope that the new owners will treat them with the reverence that we did. Mike

    Old GMC Truck Auction

The COE'S were normally supplied as a cab and chassis, and after market builders supplied the body to order. I had a '48 GMC COE that was just the cab and chassis. I sold it to a local guy who took the cab off to drop it on a later model 1 ton frame. I still have the chassis with the motor and...

    Old GMC Truck Auction

SD is not that far from TX. I found several of these trucks in SD, and rather enjoyed the drive! What is the VIN # for your early 50's GMC? The 9' box was supplied only for 1 ton trucks. Mike

Just looked up the PF932 on the Advance website. Their price is $11.99. Amazon has them for $11.49.

    Oil filter part number

FWIW: The Delco PN# for their 2 qt filter is PF932. Had the local Advance Auto store order in a half dozen for me. Don't remember the unit cost, but not enough to break the bank. It is stickered with a "Product of USA" label.

What are some options for mud flaps?

I know we used to sell class 8 rubber flaps at OReillys; I think the size was 20x30. Bracket kits are available from any number of big truck parts suppliers. The ones we had were scored for easy size reduction.

    '89 Burb V2500 JB7 Different Pad Options?

You didn't mention if your truck is 2wd or 4wd, or 1500 or 2500? Also, where did the 7300 GVW number come from? Door jamb sticker, RPO sticker? Diesel or gasoline?

Cruise control works for a while then starts to lose speed

Roger, What year did they start putting digital cruise modules in the regular production vehicles?

    Found this at Copart Spokane

Maybe someone can explain why you can't buy the vehicle? Here in Texas, we have our wholesale auto clearing houses, which require you to have a DEALER license to buy at one of their auctions.

    Is this a good deal?

IMHO, buy it!!! Rust free burbs are a rarity these days Just finishing up my 1991 V-1500 GMC Suburban. You're lucky it's an '87, as most parts are available. The 1989-1991 burbs are where you have problems finding parts. A lot of the new features for the new GMT-400 trucks were incorporated...

    Got It Back

Welcome to the forum from N. Texas! You're extremely lucky to have found it again and then re-purchase it. My vote is to take it back to stock height, but that's probably my age talking. Good job on the paint restoration!

What size is my fuel tank?

Little technique I taught my wife while we were living in W. Germany in the mid 80's: if the tank is at half consider it empty. If you slide off a road during a snow storm, a half tank will keep the Mercedes 6 banger idling for several hours, to provide heat. We also carried MRE's, blankets and...

    Spare Tire Carrier Option?

Neat idea. I used to go to wrecking yards and buy the Dodge truck crank up spare tire mechanism for 10 or so bucks. It could be fabbed to attach to the rear center of the cage, to alleviate the weight that your cheater bar is doing now.

New Guy with the wife's Burban

Welcome to the forum from N. Texas! Nice looking late model Burb!. If you decide to go ahead with DW's desire for a dually, I've got the adapters you need to mount the wheels. Cost is reasonable: FREE if you want to pay shipping. They are still on my '83 GMC crew cab. Also 3 free dually...
