What have you done to your square lately??

I saw a video recommend spray detailer and it seemed to work pretty good so far. On the rear I meant the rear window seals, I bought a kit that had both doors and windows and didn't realize it involved removing the rear window as well >.<

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced the seals and guide felts on the passenger door last night. Took a bit longer than expected because the old felt was rusted in to the channel on the frontside of the window. About an hour of scraping and wiping to get it clean again and install the new felt... Then the motor that was...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Yeah it hisses pretty loud when adjusting it. There is no heat coming out yet when I checked but currently but I don't hear the hissing when it's running or stopped after some short period of time. I can hear it if I move the levers for the temperature control when the truck is off too if that...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Probably a dumb question Craig but is it reasonable safe to say the hissing / vacuum issue is a problem for the fall when it cools off and I need heat or are there any harmful side effects? Trying to tackle one thing at a time and given I've got nice cold A/C blowing again I didn't want to fuss...

    Fender emblems.

I think you are right I looked up how to solder pegs back in there and it looks brittle. Double sided tape it is.

    Picked up a 1987 R10

For sure. I had the bedliner done and asked them to install the rails but they didn't want to drill the fresh bedliner to reinstall them. I was considering striping the wood part black but then I looked at how much a replacement set of rails cost and maybe I should just store them in the...

    Picked up a 1987 R10

Yeah that pictures doesn't really do the old paint job justice as it looks better in that pic than it was. I'll see if I can find one of the other side. it could have gone on without a paint job but the passenger door and a few areas had some cheap touch up paint that was a different color. I...

    Picked up a 1987 R10

Indeed it does. I'm debating what I should do with them since they have a wood trim. Also dual gas tanks and power everything. Kinda cool.

    Fender emblems.

Were you able to salvage the old badges? The body shop cut mine like mentioned with a small part of the tab and I was considering how to do the same when I stumbled upon thi spost.

    Picked up a 1987 R10

Here is a picture of when I picked it up. Mostly a clean body besides that passenger door. I didn't pay enough attention to how much work that door had done or I'd have replaced it before painting, but oh well.

    Couple of suspension questions

My square is still on factory everything suspension-wise. I was planning to lift it a little but it is a 2wd and that isn't looking so promising. I've read up on using HD springs and was pricing things out with a local truck shop and just had a few questions - 1. From stock height, how many...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Definitely. The flush I used had a smell like that and it's how I figured out where the liquid came from. After running it not dry I decided to purge the new compressor. The oil in it was already black with chunks so I bought a new compressor and dryer and started from scratch again. After...

    Picked up a 1987 R10

@oldretiredafguy definitely coming in April. The owners manual was in the glovebox with the original owners signature on something from the dealership. Now that ac is running I can dig in a bit more.

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

So I don't want to celebrate too early but looks like I was able to get the system back up and running with everyone's help. The blower motor has been cutting off for what seems like bad contact but it'll work for now. Thanks again for everyone's help! Now on to tint and a fresh suspension...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Yeah look at the pic of the ac Delco part tho it has an extra outlet of some sort right beside that port. I went all over town trying to find a plug to seal it with no luck. Luckily the screw extractor I bought was able to pull the core out of the original tube so I can take this one back...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Hey I picked this part up and it has an extra port there in the picture you can see it on the left hand side after the first bend. I am going to have to take it back. Went to home depot and bought some screw removers and was finally able to get it to break free. We will see if another one...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Ok fun times everything is installed and looks good. The adapter I bought requires removing the schrader valve from the low side port. Me being as smart as I am went ahead and bought a replacement for the high pressure port as well since I was replacing everything. The stem came out but left...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Apologies for the dumb questions if they keep coming across that way >.< So replaced the compressor and got everything back in place there. Even found one of the compressor mounting bolts and rattled loose at some point. While installing the new one I found it and saved a trip to go buy...

Nice to know. How difficult was the belt conversion? I'm assuming you had to use a different compressor?

Does anyone know if this compressor is a direct replacement for the stock Harrison one? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ado-15-20226?filters=year/1987/make/chevrolet/model/r10/ The model number I got off the Harrison 1131610

    Picked up a 1987 R10

Found an '87 R10 last month on craigslist while perusing for a miracle. It was 80k original miles, sold once in '87 the year it was originally bought with 2,700 miles, spent about 10 years unregistered presumably as a farm truck and then was registered each year after with an average of 1,200...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

I'm looking at having to buy A/C manifold gauges that work with R12 to check the current system. Also looking at the price it's not going to be cheap to recharge the compressor. Looking at some other threads there is a lot of recommendations to switch to the Sanden compressors. I'm pretty...

    Upgrading 1987 R10 A/C to R134a parts / questions

Well this was some great advice. Tested the line down to the blower motor was receiving 12v, grabbed a new blower motor for $40 at AutoZone and we've got air (not cold yet, but it is a great start :)) Will continue on to the compressor now and see if we can bring this old thing back to life...
