My other project - '66 Mustang

I know it's heresy but here she is... Pulled it out of storage after a few years. Put a decent amount of money in to her a few years ago but realized how far I had to go and kind of gave up. Son is interested in working on it so pulled it back out.

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

Oh interesting. Yeah the rubber for the mounts I found all felt like the rubber was in great shape. I need to get this thing on a lift and see if I can figure it out...

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

That's a pretty good idea, the left tank feels like it is blocking where the noise comes from I hadn't thought to check that the strap is in good shape and not the cause of the issue. Will check. The driveshaft looks like it is pretty good shape, I didn't see anything that gave me concern...

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

Checked the cab / bed mounts that I could find and verified the rubber is still there and it feels in good shape. Checked the exhaust too and everything seemed nice and secure. Going to have to pony up and get some ramps to check the motor and tranny mounts but I'll be doing that next.

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

I was thinking something like that but the truck is saggy so I haven't gotten under it too far but I didn't see a mount there. I bet it's above the gas tank (I've got dual tanks)

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

The rear driver side shock is pretty worn out but the mounts don't seem like they are bad enough to cause noise. Definitely need to get some new shocks on here though so I'll have them double check.

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

It could definitely be inside like that but I don't see anything obvious that would be making any noise.

    Kill switch ideas?

Does anyone have a GPS tracker that doesn't have a monthly fee? I was thinking one thing you could do is use Gimbal-like Bluetooth devices. I bet you could find a way to put one on your keychain and one in the vehicle in a manner that, if your keys are not within ~50ft it would enable a kill...

Popping noise between bed and cab when bouncing / turning

It's not terribly bad but I get a sound of either metal hitting metal or a "popping" noise when hitting fairly normal bumps and an almost popping sound when taking a turn with an elevation change. I thought at first the bed was hitting the cab but there is plenty of clearance. The noise does...

    Aftermarket a/c

Most everything I read suggested turning the compressor port side down and draining all oil from it by turning the clutch by hand before adding anything to make sure you put the right amount of oil in the system.

    Picked up a 1987 R10

So when I picked my square up I was planning on gutting most of the interior and putting down some bedliner on the floorboard in the cabin and getting the interior to a black color. Now that I look at how good of condition all of the interior pieces and carpets (floor and bottom of door both...

What have you done to your square lately??

Got both sides of my door seals replaced. After taking off all of the interior pieces it was amazing how much dirt was under the carpet. Also put some PEX in the door so I don't have to tell people to wind up to close the door anymore.

What have you done to your square lately??

This was 100% necessary for me. On both the driver and passenger side the vent channel all the way to the bottom was frozen in there and had to be scraped out. I did not take off the adhesive strip to seal it in to the channel yet because I think I'm going to pull both again this weekend and...

What have you done to your square lately??

This is looking great just went all the way back from beginning of your build thread, really cool stuff. Question on your sand blasting - last time I tried that indoors it was an unbelievable mess to do, is there anything you are doing outdoors to reduce the debris or reclaim the sand or the...

Reinstalling badges with best look / least paint damage

Thanks that worked out better than I expected. The 3m tape was the perfect width to seal against both surfaces but allowing the smallest amount of clearance imaginable so that the badge edges don't touch the body anywhere. Thanks!

Reinstalling badges with best look / least paint damage

I've got the front fender badges they cut off of the truck when painting it I want to reinstall. The nubs are barely there but they are enough to fit snug with the black backing that separates the badge from the paint. I bought 3m super strength molding tape that is 7/8th inch wide and fairly...
