Scores from DIY Parts Yards, Pull A Part, U Pull It etc

The thread about the front drive systems will come in handy as Pick N Pull is having its annual 50% off all parts pulled from the yard sale this weekend. I plan on harvesting a couple of sets for various projects.

    2-Piece Shaft swap into a K20 Longbed

I am a 2wd guy currently, so to me it is stuff and things. But it looks damn good.

What new tools have you got lately?

Excellent info. So far they work just like they should.

What new tools have you got lately?

Max picked these items up from the dollar box... A 1/2 inch Craftsman ratchet handle, a 1/4 inch Craftsman ratchet handle, and one of the little slider bar 3/8 inch doo dads. $3 for all... In the box was a bag of wrenches, again all Craftsman brand. There is a complete set of small metric box...

What new tools have you got lately?

We stopped by the pawn shop to see what they had on the shelves. Not much was found until we dug into the dollar tool bin. I picked all these up for $1 each. 3 New Diablo sawzall blades, old timey wrench, Ford old timey wrench (not shown), cheap needle nose pliers, 12 inch Craftsman 3/8...

    Chevy 305 heads

We have been looking recently and refurbishing a set hovers around $500. Give or take $150 depending on the work needed and condition of the parts. We have pretty much settled on buying a new set when the time comes for the small blocks. For the big block, we will probably get a set reworked.

mods for LONG LIFE (ie a rustfree chassis for decades??)

The search function doesn't care how old the thread is. It will take you there and before you know it, you raise a zombie thread. Still good information to behold here though. My thought was, for the rust belt people on here, buy used vehicles from other states. Ones that do not have the same...

    Double Dingo's 1965 3/4 Ton "Crusty Biscuit"

There was a point where I wanted to do all that stuff to the 235 in my Bel Air. But then I priced it out and I shelved that idea. I am happy to see there are those out there that still like the straight sixes. Looking forward to the photos of the fancy engine stuff...

Air Conditioning leak checking / finding information sharing thread

Good idea'r. I will be battling this on our 1995 Sub this season. We can pump it up with new juice and it will cool great. But it only lasts for a few days, that gets expensive. I have all new stuff sitting in the garage for it, but I would like to find the actual leak too. Before we change out...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ordered a new mini starter for it from Rock Auto. The one I ordered is for a 1995 1/2 ton truck with the 5.7, but the same one is for the 7.4. No problemo as we all have Chevorlets and the parts interchangeability is awesome. The one on it now is from the junk yard and the solenoid decided to...

Hardware/fixing specs for 75 front end? Replacing clip with original and not sure what I need for the job.

Well hot dayum. I did not even know they had that section on Rock Auto. I will be using that to replace the hardware on my Bel Air as it has the bare minimum holding the front clip together....

Here's one for the Holley/Eddy debate...

They are pretty proud of those for sure. For now I will stick with the 5 Holleys I have a total of $595 into. 3 are ready to go and the other 2 just need to have a rebuild kit put into them for the fresh gaskets.

3/4-Ton 2wd Rear Spring Replacement: Advice?

I bet it would make you mad if I took a photo of the under side of the Sub. It is still fairly clean and rust free down there, just road grime.

    Blue Print or GM Performance

For $8500 I would learn to do it myself and buy all the tools that are needed to rebuild it. Only farming out the machine work you cannot do yourself.... That is crazy.

3/4-Ton 2wd Rear Spring Replacement: Advice?

It definitely fixed its droopy butt. The back of the sub is now level with the front and it does not ride overly harsh as the springs are "broken in"...

3/4-Ton 2wd Rear Spring Replacement: Advice?

Make sure you have new high quality U bolts for it. We did our 1995 Sub a bit ago and this is what came out of it... We have a spring builder near by so we had new custom ones made on the spot for it. While we were having the rearend rebuilt, we put some new to us 3/4 ton springs under the 1/2...
