Torque Converter and Transmission Assembly Question - Help Needed

It seemed like there was a set of splines that hadn't engaged, once I had the engine and transmission separated again, I turned the output shaft of the transmission and then the torque converter slid the last bit into the transmission.

Torque Converter and Transmission Assembly Question - Help Needed

Correct, didn't rotate anything in engine/transmission because of the tightness.

Torque Converter and Transmission Assembly Question - Help Needed

Hey all, last night I was assembling my rebuilt TH400 with new Torque Converter to the engine and in my first attempt I did not have the torque converter seated completely in the front of the transmission. I didn't realize this until I had attached the transmission bell housing to the back of...

    VEGE Torque Converters?

Anyone have experience using a VEGE torque converter? I've rebuilt my TH400 and need a new or remanned converter and Summit Racing sells a VEGE. Don't need anything fancy, stock stall speed is fine for my application. Never heard of them so wanted to see if others can provide any insight to...

    TH400 Direct Drum/Sprag Question

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully I can find a rebuilder that's local that could rebuild the TC. If not, who currently sells reliable TCs new or remanned? Nothing fancy as far as stall speed, etc.

    TH400 Direct Drum/Sprag Question

@ One hopefully final question as I get ready to put the TH400 back in the truck...what should be done with the torque converter? If it seemed to work OK prior to removing transmission, do I just put it back in or replace? Seems like there's not much that can be done to rebuild them? Thanks again.

    Plug Wire Retainers

Looking for metal tabs that are used as reinforcement for holding down valve covers and also hold plastic spark plug wire retainers. Looking for both metal pieces and two wire plastic retainers. Thanks!

    Spark Plug Wire Holders

Looking for some help/suggestions on spark plug wire holders that appear to use the valve cover bolts/clamps. For me it's hard to tell what's being shown in this excerpt from the 1979 Service Manual. Looking for something similar for my late 70s engine that will be using similar exhaust...

    Water Pump Bolt Length

When I removed the water pump from my late 1970s 350, there were three different lengths used. Since there isn't a difference in thickness in the water pump casting, and I don't see much difference in the block, what length is correct? Four 3/8-16 x 2" bolts? Thanks!

    QJet Questions

Thanks for the reply. My QJet has a hole that the solenoid would have fit into, right now it's just an empty space that is open to the float cavity. Some of the carbs I've seen online have a black plastic cup that fits down into the hole to fill the space.

    QJet Questions

I'm in the middle of a QJet rebuild and have a couple of questions. The carb that I'm using does not have electric mixture control (blue connector on air horn) but it's missing the black plastic insert that is shown being used in place of the mixture adjusting solenoid. Is this insert needed or...

    Correct Exhaust Manifold Bolts

Hey folks, looking for some help in the correct hardware to use. I'm switching back to OEM exhaust manifolds on my 350, and wondering what hardware to use. The engine had headers on it and those bolts are too short for the cast iron manifolds. Is there a kit sold with the right hardware? (not...

    Vacuum Spark Control

This is the one that I found...I went ahead and bought it just to have something to use, even if it might not be exactly right for a V8. I'm going to keep looking at local boneyards but so far haven't found anything used.

    Vacuum Spark Control

Found a 4 port check valve like in your photo but it's for a 292 6. Would that work on a 350? Thanks for the help.

    Vacuum Spark Control

Thanks. What would be the differences between the valves? Just curious.

    Vacuum Spark Control

Thanks for the info. Those parts are no longer on the engine but I want to add them back. Is it one size fits all? So any check valve and delay valve from that time frame would work? (passenger car, truck, whatever)

    GM 458169 SMP DSV16 Source

Anybody know of a replacement for this part? Gm 458169 which is a check valve for vacuum spark control. Aftermarket part is DSV16 which is out of stock everywhere.

    Vacuum Spark Control

Hello folks, wondering if anyone can provide some photos or info on how the components circled in the attached photo. This is a 1983 GMC 2500, 350 "M" code engine (HD V8). It's a mess of vacuum hoses that don't go anywhere, so I'm trying to get some of the functionality working again, such as...

T-Fitting for Oil Pressure Gauge and Switch

Looking for the fitting that goes on the back of a V8 for connecting both the oil pressure sensor and oil pressure switch. This would be for a truck with dash gauges and electric choke. See photo.
