Removing a leaf from a spring pack...which one?

You can't install it either way. This DS is a custom driveshaft with a double cardan CV on one end and a regular universal on the other. The axle is pointed straight at the transfer case so the normal universal side MUST be on the axle side and the CV MUST be on the side that bolts to the...

What have you done to your square lately??

I only say that because that's exactly what happened the last time. I was coming back from the stalking spot since it was past dusk.. middle of the hunt week. Engine just shut off. Thankfully one of the other guys from my camp drove by a few minutes later and we pulled the truck up the logging...

What have you done to your square lately??

Trucks been running great the last few weeks once I got my AFR gauge installed and tuned the carb. Filled up my tank yesterday and this morning I came around the corner on my way to work and the engine just shut off :banghead: Pulled it off into a parking lot and messed with it a bit and it...

    TH350 To a 700r4 transmission

That's good, I wasn't trying to dissuade you from using him... just saying that I can't say anything good or bad about him because I have no experience either way. I wasn't trying to bash you or dissuade him from using you. In fact, I think we are saying the same thing here. No one is perfect...

    TH350 To a 700r4 transmission

That's great. 700R4's can be done right, but they can also be royally screwed up. It's important to get it done by someone that knows what they are doing and is willing to stand by their work. Nick is still new here and hasn't really built a reputation here as far as I know... but I haven't seen...

Ac/heat high speed fan not working

Troubleshoot the issue, don't just throw parts at it. Do you have voltage at the power feed to the relays? Go to the reference library and download the manual PDF's for your year truck and then check the wires to see where you have a disconnect or fault.

    Need Some Help Here

They could not have messed with timing if it wasn't running. They should have been able to walk you through why they replaced the parts and also provide you the bad parts. The timing on a TBI motor must be set with a specific procedure that locks out the electronic timing control and has to be...

    Saddle tank delete with carburation

The 40 gallon is NOT the same footprint. The 31 Gallon is 28.75"x28.125"x12.75" The 40 Gallon is 28.75"x35"x13.13" Its only ~ 0.5" taller, but it extends and extra 7" longer and basically fits right up against(or maybe even a little bit over the top of) the rear diff. It can work fine if you...

    OEM Part Number

It is a "Genuine GM part", but that part number comes up as a reman at all of the locations I've seen it. https://parts.sheachevrolet.com/oem-parts/gm-air-conditioning-compressor-remanufactured-19169344

    OEM Part Number

My original A6 compressor blew the shaft seal a while back. I got a rebuild kit on ebay that had the new design double lip seal instead of the carbon/ceramic one that they originally used and it worked great. I think it was only ~$30 for the rebuild kit and you can get all the special tools to...

    Need Some Help Here

Jeez... $1600 for basically a tune-up and ~$200 in parts? They should have the correct tools to plug into the ALDL port and read the codes and live sensor data. If they don't... you are at the wrong shop. You can go into the reference library here and access all of the manuals for every year...

    Differential skid plates

Unless you are doing something way crazier than this... it's not what you should be concerned about. The best way to get clearance for the axles is with a lift and bigger tires. The biggest worry is actually hitting the pinion or driveshaft, not the pumpkin. You'll notice none of these guys have...

    Differential skid plates

People don't make them because you just don't need them. I can't image how fast you would need to be going to cause any damage to a 12 bolt truck rear pumpkin. If you are on anything crazy enough to worry about that, you should be turning some big tires and be thinking about upgrading to a...

Spark, Fuel, Crank but won't start

The only thing left is compression. Run a compression test. Pull all plugs, insert the compression tester into each plug and hold down the gas pedal to the floor while cranking for a few seconds. Record each PSI reading for each cylinder. Then put a bit of oil into each cylinder and repeat. All...

    Preferred Differential Lubricant

I have the walmart brand 80-90 in the 14BFF/10 bolt and NP205 on my square. Its a GL-5 rated gear oil, and everything looks/works fine for several years now. I have a Grizzly locker in the 14BFF. I've hauled several tons of all kinds of things and also towed our travel trailer for several...

About to ruin one of the nicest C3500's with an Ls.. Pictures

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/TAY-79214 I have the Taylor race-fit 409's on my CNP modified Gen VI 454. They fit well with the headers and longer distance they needed to go compared to the LS ones. I had originally ordered summit ceramic ones and they were too short, even though they said...

    350 Water Pump Woes

The answer he re is that the manufacturer knows if the hose is reinforced or not. If not, they come with a spring or state to re-use the one already there. Modern light duty vehicle hoses no longer need one in all but the cheapest hoses. The new ones are SOOOO much stiffer than the old rubber...

    350 Water Pump Woes

How long has that been on there? That's a lot of corrosion and damage for even a rebuilt pump. I would suggest maybe switching the brand of antifreeze as well. Maybe just switch to the standard extended life prestone. I have MANY miles and years of driving with it in all kinds of vehicles with...

    350 Water Pump Woes

In all fairness... sometimes we think it doesn't need to be said, but it does. Use concentrate antifreeze and mix 50/50 with distilled water or use the pre-diluted. Never use tap water to dilute your coolant. The grounding and corrosion issue will show itself more if you are using tap water...

    350 Water Pump Woes

I've had a NAPA water pump on my 350 for at least 4 years now on two different motors and zero leaks. I also have one on my L29 454 that is getting ready to go in. I think you have another problem TBH.

    Rear end advice

Its not really about blowing the clip. Its the fact that the clip is the only thing holding it in and the axle itself is riding on the bearing at the end of the axle tube. This puts a load on the middle of the axle while it is rotating, so if you have big power or are shock loading the axle, it...
