87 350 TBI running lean
Vacuum leak. Check all your vacuum lines for cracks/old rubber and spray carb cleaner along the base of the TBI unit and around the intake manifold while running. Any change in RPM while spraying around a specific area shows that you have a vacuum leak in that area.- Bextreme04

Too tight on tolerance is the biggest issue. Just keep in mind that after each step of assembly, if it doesn't spin free, you messed up. way more... not even on a hp/cu-in basis. They just make more HP/TQ stock than the 5.3 does. Add boost and it's even more so. 85 K20 4X4 6.0 6L80E swap. What are my fuel delivery options. Rear tank?
I'm using a rear mounted 91 Blazer 31 Gallon tank and sending unit with an EP381. I used re-bent stock GMT-400 lines and clamps from the engine/trans donor vehicle to run the lines along the inside of the frame rail and then TBI conversion fittings from ICT Billet to convert from the stock ends...- Bextreme04

The two wires to the front will be a 10 gauge orange wire for the 30 amp switched ignition power and a 10AWG blue wire for the trailer brake power. 5 wires to the rear are the T-connector that camaro is talking about and will tie into your rear light harness to provide the stop light, running...- Bextreme04

There's a few things that will destroy an engine fast. Not having enough oil pressure and having too tight tolerance are the big ones. Having absolutely filthy assembly conditions is another. Other than that.. these things will take a beating for the most part.- Bextreme04

If you feel some ridges and aren't experienced in this.. I would take it to a local machine shop and have them check it out. It is usually ~$50 or less to have it professionally polished and inspected for roundness. Ask them to measure and record the main journal sizes while they are at it. Then...- Bextreme04

Rear Leaf Load Rating Question
Those don't look like 52" springs. I've never seen a heavy duty 52" spring either. You could get a 52 or 56" rear spring on a 1/2 ton, but as far as I know all 3/4 ton and up came with 56" springs. Honestly doesn't look bad at all. I'd maybe do some plastigauge to make sure the bearing clearances are fine. Put a fresh set of main and rod bearings in(after you have plastigauged to see if you need a different size) and probably a new oil pump just to be sure. Radiator Leaking
I had almost the exact same thing happen. Noticed coolant under the truck. Couldn't see it leaking from any of the hoses so I thought the radiator had sprung a leak. Decided to check the hose clamps on all of the hoses first... lo and behold, clamp on the water pump was loose and it was leaking...- Bextreme04

I'm sure it's an age old question, K 20 ride quality improvements.
Mine rides much better now than it did stock. It was originally a 1980 K25 8600GVW truck. I converted it to a single rear 31 Gallon tank and that gave me room to put in 63" GMT-400 3/4 ton rear leaf springs. New crate engine oil priming/ ignition timing impact if the distributor is mis-installed
Assembly lube keeps the parts from grabbing and spinning the first time, but is not a replacement for priming. Blower fan/relay
Oh, yep you are right. It's not worded great, but I guess that's what he is saying. The relay only switches between the power coming through the blower motor resistors and the direct connection for high speed, so he needs to put the fan speed on HI and see if it kicks the relay on. Does the fan come on when you turn the fan switch to HI? That's all the way up. The fan switch will send the power signal through the blower motor resistors for the first three speeds of the fan and then through the relaxed state of the relay. Wrong plug or wrong headgasket/piston deck height combo is most likely. Its been rebuilt with flat top pistons and bored .030" over before, so if the previous builder didn't get the right thickness headgasket for a proper quench with the new deck height... there's no telling. The piston tops don't look like they had a bunch of detonation going on. Best guess would be that something happened with the previous rebuild to make that bank be slightly smaller bore than the other side. LS timing chain and gear
Gen IV has the tensioner. It is garbage and almost always breaks. The 2009 L9H I am rebuilding had it stock and it was broken when I removed the timing cover. 74 k10 going 55 mph is at 3,500 rpm
Doing the math on that... If it is 220 off at 1000rpm, that is a 22% offset. The gear calculator with a 3.73 rear end and 28" tire at 55mph has the expected RPM to be 2528. A 22% error at that RPM would read ~3,084RPM. It's also worth noting that this is almost exactly the error you would expect...- Bextreme04
