I think he's working on an 87 with a 350... and... Either the switch is bad, not being actuated by the steering column, or no power at switch.. Then, check the bulbs in the rear tail lights, see if you get 12V when in reverse. Careful with a running engine and truck in reverse.. Check to see if...- justhorns

Painted my grill badge, added some weatherstrip on leading edge of door to reinforce door sealing. Gotta do something about the front bumper soon. Truck running perfectly and even the wife drove it the other day. -

Looking for a sway bar off an old truck in your back yard. Just the bar needed, I have purchased new hardware for it. My truck never had one and it could use it. FOR my 1981 C10 2wd 250/6 3 used to be on tree. I think it's about 1.25" dia, stock original v8 or 6 works, just not 4WD, that's... -

I diagnosed like 3 days earlier and when I received it, I needed truck the following day. -
Leaking transmission pan plug
Also, try Gasoilia... it's a sealant for such fluids. But, you have to pull the plug and clean, so a full drain. Either way, it's better than dropping the pan while it's full. Yik. I may have that name screwed up, but, it's a green paste.- justhorns

I needed the truck the following day. I agree with you and saved the original alternator to rebuild myself soon, and either sell or save for failure of the new unit. One thing surprising, is after the alternator was swapped, the engine was so quiet, I thought it was purring (a 250-6). I'm not... -

So, OK, I did correctly diagnose bad alternator bearings, and replaced the alternator in about an hour. Looks buried under the PS pump, but, two bolts and out, then in. Hook up 1 plug and main output.. No big deal. Rock auto, $36, plus $7 core, plus shipping. I'm not returning the core, but will... -
Mirror quality question
I just bought new mirrors (not from AMD) for another project, and yes, they are Cr%p. One doesn't even hold its own weight and just flops. I will have to modify it.- justhorns

But, there are adjustments to make.. Timing, mixture, and someday I will replace the leaky water pump. This is a simple vehicle. There are less things to break and wear out. I hate new cars. -

It started with the speedometer. My needle wandered all over the face and jumped around. So, I removed the cable and lubed the inner. Then, there was nothing. It just sat at Zero. So, I disconnected the lower end, and made sure it was engaged, and it went back to wobble mode.. So, I bought a... -

Coolio, today I looked under the dash and saw the switch, with a blue and green wire. I pulled the plug off, and connected two wires (blue and green!) to the connector, ran them to a switch, with a ground, and installed it in the dash..When the blue light is on, the back up lights are on...- justhorns

Years ago, the previous owner removed the 3 on tree shifter from my 250/6 with Saginaw 3 speed, and replaced it with a hurst indy truck shifter. So, I have no backup lights. Where are the wires for the reverse light switch. I don't see any hanging wires by the tranny. I just want to install a...- justhorns

Brake switch removal
You may be looking at the ignition switch on top of the column, near the firewall. The brake switch is pressed by the brake pedal arm and is easily removable just by standing on your head like this: I thought this photo (From Hammers Garage on you tube) was hysterical. The factory shop manual says you gotta reach up from behind to change bulbs in dash.. I can reach this lower left turn signal indicator, but cannot get it out. Others, I have no idea how to reach them.. -

I finally got a rubber pad on the parking brake pedal. Everybody wanted $5.99 for it, but only O'reillys had free shipping to the store. LMC wanted $24 for shipping it. Install was super easy. -
