Also, I have no idea if I would be able to get the factory spindles on these Detroit Steels or not... I would prefer to have the factory spindles. -

I think I want these Detroit Steels. They make an 18" wheel in this variety. Something like this. What do you think it would look and perform like if I took the lift out? Or should I kep the lift? -

@SquareRoot Mike,(and anyone else that would way in with thoughts) I like the new wheels but also agree the OG's were great. I am looking for info from you because it seems you are in a similar height/wheel/tire size situation as me. Not trying to sideline the thread, just looking for feedback... -

Broken hearted kid and fuel system
I'm sure this father and son have sold the truck by now. I don't know how I would take all the over the top responses that were laced in with all the genuine responses. They both said the truck stays somewhere they don't get to every day only on the weekends I think. I really hope they keep...- JamesSam

What have you done to your square lately??
I do the same thing. My speedometer is off. Bigger wheels and no adjustment to the speedo. -
gas gauge goes back an forth when im moving.
I am running all OG guages in my 87 and it's TBI. Not sure if that makes any difference but the gas needle bounces around all the time: going up a hill, going down a hill, over a bump, jumping a draw bridge...if you want to see how much gas is really in the tank with original or OEM/ORM look...- JamesSam

Seeing what you originally asked, yes you will just have to do some trial and error to get it lined up just right but it shouldn't take too long. 30 minutes for the whole job most likely. -

Also, I see you have an 87 as well. I think the attaching clip from the wire to the column changed a few times in the 80's. Some videos I watched had clips that screwed on and some didn't. Mine has the kind that just clips to the moving collar on the column. You will have to take the bezel off... -

You can get an entire new mechanism from any of the many parts shops as I'm sure you likely have looked. I went through this with my truck. After the first attempt was successful for a little while and then it slipped again a few times, I finally got it to work for good(so far). I will try to... -

Washed her up and put her in "the garage " the cover. It is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's for several days.the wheel wells are looking ashy. I need to wash and silk shine them, i think. Is that what i should clean them with? Most of the squares I see don't have the clearance and exposed...
