    Rear disc conversion

Additionally - the rear brakes are "throttled" by the restriction in the proportioning valve by some percent (like 40%). Why not bump the pressure up and let the existing rears do a little more work? It's like having a carburetor sitting on a restrictor plate and then deciding you need a...

    Emblem help needed?

No. Trim level is not encoded in the VIN. GM Heritage Center archives to not go back prior to '76/'77. If the truck was built in Canada, or built in the US for Canadian consumption, then GM of Canada would have the build info: https://www.vintagevehicleservices.com/ Otherwise your only hope...

    3 on the tree

I can't judge you for wanting a three on the tree, or help with your selection of trans. I will add this, though: back in the early 60's, before four speed shifters were robust and plentiful, the racers would go with a steep steep rear gear with a three on the tree. That would allow them to...

    Panel Gaps/ Body alignment

Good video. A few observations and comments: a) Door fit – in the assembly plant the doors were fit in the cab shop and not removed again after that. In other words, raw sheetmetal prior to ELPO dip and paint. https://www.73-87.com/7387info/Assembly%20Line.htm b) I also agree that the body...

New to pickups & fifth wheels

I would add: I have two standard lead acid batteries in my little camp trailer. I can go a week in the boondocks and it barely moves the needle off full charge. (Admittedly that's just running some reading lights in the evening, and the water pump). I am solar capable but at this point I...

    Terrible gap

Here's how we did it: "Quote=Keith Seymore What we used to do for fender shims is tape a packet together, like 3 shims, and we would run those all day whether the truck we were currently building needed it or not. Eventually the final repair supervisor would call back and say something...

There should be shims here, here and here. K

    Door gap

This is correct. Additionally, the stripes had a clear mask over the top of them. They were applied directly to the primer and formed the top border of the two tone. K

2wd or 4wd? The 4wd front axle is wider than the rear. K

New to this: Rear end alignment?

Agree. So if the rear axle "beam" is rotated it will manifest itself in the vehicle "crabbing". K

    87 burb master cylinder

Lastly - my humble opinion: I'd put the same as what's on there back on there. When I was a brake engineer for GM I decided I wanted to go from the cast iron unit to the plastic on my drag car, for weight savings. I tried probably a dozen different GM offerings, both obvious and obscure...

    87 burb master cylinder

Need a bit more detail. 1/2 ton? 3/4 ton? 2wd or 4wd? Here's some of the brake charts I have scanned ('86 should be the same) to give you an idea of the proliferation. K

    87 burb master cylinder

This is correct; there's a million ways for it NOT to work. I would add some systems the front port goes to the front brakes and rear to rear; other systems the front port goes to the rear and rear to front. One more thing to look out for. K

    What is this? (LSPV Valve)

Sorry - we moved last week and the big book of brake part numbers is buried somewhere. I haven't even found my razor and toothbrush yet. I would do what Craig (most recently) and the others have suggested. The rear height sensing valve was added as a FMVSS108 "test beater" before antilock...
