Power steering fluid .. what type ?

My squarebody has manual steering, but I have always used ATF in my vehicles that have power steering and never had a problem. J.B.

    K20 vs. K30 Difference

You probably purchased what originally was a Camper Special. If so, it originally had the heavy duty rear end normally found on 1 tonners.

    Why does it do this

Make sure the choke's vacuum break works. Put some rubber tubing on it and suck on it. You should see the little clevis retract. If it doesn't, the diaphragm is gone. It needs replacing, as it can't be opened up for repair. J.B.

I finally got me a squarebody

Welcome to the club! You will find that these are seriously good trucks, PROVIDING that they have been rust-proofed. The fact that they rust easily is their only weak point. Take care of that and you have a truck that will last you a life time.

    Installs to do before windshield?

I bought a gasket from somebody other than Steele and it was no good. The windshield guy had his own that he was able to rope in. Did it in just a few minutes. No water leaks at all. J.B.

Please look over my emissions “delete”

I agree about the canister and about possible vacuum leaks, but I hate EGR. It considerably reduces torque at light to part throttle cruise, forcing you to use more throttle than you otherwise would use when you encounter a grade or want to increase your speed some. Also, in about 1980, GM...

Welcome friend! One thing you should know is that pre 1975 vehicles, and certain 1975 and 76, such as the Heavy Chevy, don't have a catalytic converter and don't have to be smog checked. Something to keep in mind!

Want to build a good horsepower, good fuel economy engine for a 1978 c20 with stock 350. I don't know much and need help.

You can't get high horsepower and good mileage at the same time. If you want lots of low RPM torque, you will have to forget about lots of top end horsepower. Ditto for good mileage. Aggressive cams mean poor mileage at low speeds. If you do a lot of towing and/or load your truck up with...

    Spray vs Plastic Bedliner

You could still get the wood floor on Squarebody Fleetsides? Didn't know that, as I never saw any and never saw any advertising for them, and have never seen replacement floors for them. Good to know. J.B.

    Fresh oil

Probably just your imagination because you know you are doing something good for your engine. My brother used to think the same thing, then I borrowed his car, which he said needs the oil changed, and told him I changed it. It swore it ran better, then I showed him the dip stick. Ha Ha. I...

The wisest way to modernize a C20

Great additions! That dump bed is hecka kool! When I saw "moderize", I thought that would mean LS engines, computers, etc., and was wondering, "why"? Why add everything bad about today's vehicles to a perfectly good truck? J.B.

    Spray vs Plastic Bedliner

Step-side owners can gloat about this, as they have wooden bed floor! My brother almost bought a seldom-seen long-bed stepside in 87. Too bad he didn't, as they are as rare as hen's teeth, and the bed sides and tailgate are pretty much the same from 1954 - 87, even later on 1 tonners. J.B.

    Spray vs Plastic Bedliner

That's what I was going to say, as plastic traps water, and water causes rust. Spray-on is better in that respect. Plus, back in the day, there was no such thing as bed liners, and we managed OK. J. B.

How much oil pressure is to much for a stock 350

Sounds OK to me. If your oil pressure was, say 80 PSI, you might have excessive oil consumption, but your's looks normal for a good tight engine. James

Help!!! Flywheel bolts keep coming loose

Possibly the flywheel is the wrong one, and is slightly loose on the hub, or the bolt holes are too large. Never heard of that happening, so only guessing.
