    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

Ya mine might eventually get replaced too, if I had to deal with it daily it would be more of an issue for sure.

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

I have the A6 in the dually. It works good but has connection issues randomly with my android. I started keeping a paperclip in the console so I can reset it without turning off the truck. At the moment I don't have anything crazy on it just stock speakers but it does a decent job. When I get...

What have you done to your square lately??

I've thought about rebuilding my own too but was curious what you do if there's excessive wear in the worm or a few of the balls? Redhead an a few other places make a big deal about fixing that an say most of the wandering issues are caused by that.

    Car Hauler tips/tricks/ideas

It soaks in like any other stain once the wood is in the right condition. I've seen alot of comments about getting things dirty, oily etc. Everyone says once it sits in the sun a few days it's soaked in an won't rub off on anything just like a regular store bought stain It's also important to...

All right brain trust, is this beefy enough? This took a bit of planning but it turned out how I wanted, unless it's not solid enough. The angle underneath is 1/4", all bolts are 1/2" grade 8 with prevailing torque nuts, also grade 8. The crossmember it's bolted to is 3/16" i believe. With the...

    Show your daily driver

That was the idea with this buick. It was just neglected a bit by POs. I about have it sorted now I think. It still occasionally does some weird stuff but I mainly just use it to get to work so who cares lol. The cooling system was full of sludge. This was last piece, honestly it was probably...

    Show your daily driver

This is why new cars suck. Take apart the whole interior for something that should be a 45 min maintenance job :doh2: An on top of that, not only were the covers bolted on, they had heat stakes that had to be ground off too. Why both????

C30 front end bagged and now tie rods are too long

Cut about 1/2" to 3/4" off each tie rods so they will screw together more. Not an uncommon issue on bagged or really low stuff.

    Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project

Check the wiring diagrams for it. If it's setup like a 88-95 GMT400 the speedo goes to the drac an the drac feeds the cluster, cruise an ecm. As long as the drac has power/ground the speedometer should work with everything else removed. Temp an oil pressure should go direct to the cluster as...

late GMT400 interior lights wont shut off like a door is open.

Check the sill plates. The wiring runs through there an if a screw caught the ground wire they would stay on. They also like to break at the B pillars right at the transition from the sill plate to the B pillar trim. Could be worn through but not broken yet an grounded to the floor. Also since...

    Control Arm question

I don't know about those specific arms but those are generally not a super tight fit. They should come out without needing a press. Pretty sure your noise is coming from between the bushing an the chassis mount though. Try spraying something there to see if it goes away before disassembling

    Control Arm question

You'll probably have to take them back off an remove the bushings to grease them. It's also possible it's only squeaking on the side between the bushings an the chassis mount. Either way you'll have to take them lose to do it right.

    Control Arm question

What arms did you buy, you left off the link. It depends on what the bushings are made of on of they are greasable or not.

73-80 Squarebody XJ Steering Shaft Upgrade

There is a much larger thread on this pertaining to 81 an up trucks. It is a bolt in swap for those using the whole jeep shaft. An XJ is the box style Cherokee from the late 80s to 90s. Specific years are in the other thread, but you can't use a Grand Cherokee as those used a different column...

What have you done to your square lately??

When it strips out, your screwed. Hard to clean corrosion off, hard to add circuits too an keep it clean looking, they never seem to stay tight. I'm sure there's more but that's what I got right now... My main hatred for them is from GMT400 trucks and the dual cable positive they had. Those are...

What have you done to your square lately??

Don't go side terminal, you'll regret it. If you have it in the tray an properly secured, it will be fine. They sell rubber covers for top post terminals as well. Many racing sanctioning bodies require them.

    Car Hauler tips/tricks/ideas

Ya these have a cover sleeve but it seems it's almost the same material as the strap, like it's just to help keep the strap from getting abrasion itself. I found some fleece covers that I might get. I'm ready for different wheels on it so I'm not to worried about those, they are far from perfect...

    Car Hauler tips/tricks/ideas

I don't mind at all, that's what this thread is for. I want to learn what's good/bad, easier ways, better equipment etc. I probably know enough to be safe but it could also be just enough to be dangerous too. I thought about crossing the front ones but I didn't like how it was pulling on the...
