Just want to make shure im reinstalling new control arms correctly.

Order the correct studs from LMC or some other vendor. Cut and excessive lowering springs require lots of shims. Make sure the offset is correct on the control arm shafts

Just want to make shure im reinstalling new control arms correctly.

When you say bolt, are you using the correct stud, which I believe is serrated or are you using just a Grade 8 off the shelf? There are washer/ spacers that go on before you shim but I feel like they are about 1/4". Something is definitely wrong if you are having to put 1" of shims in. If the...

LED Tail Light conversion… Carolina Truck Shop

For the trucks, I've been buying United Pacific. For my other cars, I use digitaled in Argentina. They'll make them for any application relatively inexpensive and any color sequential, etc

    Front Crossmember Degreasing

looks like you are doing a nice thorough job. That is a hard part to clean. If you are blasting the rest of the trucks, then yes I would blast that as well, if not a good cleaning is probably enough. You could always put in a trash can and let it soak for a few days. BTW, while I am sure it...

    New guy in Arizona!

If you didn't know already...AZ is pretty much the mecca of squarebodies. Lots of them here, lots of shops, suppliers, etc. And of course the home of Dino's Git Down where you can see 5000 trucks in one place.

    My thoughts on spare alternators

The new cars drive me nuts. Fobs, subscriptions, etc. My wife gets a new car every 2-3 years so we always have something under warranty. On her last car every time Apple updated IOS her stereo needed to be reprogrammed. Actually, had to be replaced one of the times. The stereo is like $2k as it...

    My thoughts on spare alternators

Also, just a FYI...Used to be you could borrow a battery, start the car, remove the battery and drive without the battery. On a lot of newer cars, you can do some expensive electronics damage if you try that.

what these studs for? A friend gave me this axel for my 73 K10 said it came out of a 73 blazer. Mine doesn't have these studs on it. I can't seem find

While I agree probably for extra shock...I do find it odd as being so medial, I would think it would be a rough ride and I would also think break off easily as its literally welded in a shear position.

I have a few frames laying around, post a pic of exactly what you need and I can probably dig something up for you.

Roundeye 4x4 VAN for sale !

Yeah, this is one id have to see in person if i was a buyer. Hard to believe it would have original paint on a van but its possible. Usually, these were stored outside and the paint looks a bit too good for that. Underhood and jambs should be just as nice and they arent. Hard to judge cars on...

Roundeye 4x4 VAN for sale !

Very cool and amazing condition for a '73! Not to be a downer but another $5-7k to make it 4wd and address the AC.

    Chevy 305 heads

Are you talking the early 60's V6 305? I had one in a 62/63 I shortbed stepside I bought, it ran great but I think that engine weighed 2-3x a sbc.

    Chevy 305 heads

If it really runs that good, I'd probably pull just the one head and have the bare mininum done. Probably spend a $100 at the shop plus some gaskets. Do the seals yourself on the other head on the truck for $20 in parts. You can save the money towards a 350 swap.

Valve seals for camel hump heads?

If you go the route of new heads...some vendors order the heads in various stages from the manufacturers and finish them off to the buyers needs so it may not cost anything extra to get the spring rate you need. While it's been a long time since I was in the industry, it was common for us to...

    Fat tire electric scooter

I like them and would definitely be interested in purchasing but $3k for a product that may or may not have support in 2-3 years when I need a part is tough. If it was a major manufacturer like Segway, I'd be more inclined. Where all the hoverboards kids were riding 5 years ago?

Steering box frame reinforcement weld in plates

That is pretty rare. I will say that every time someone tells me that they don't have a crack, after stripping the paint and removing the box, I have always found a crack. On my '77 C10, I inspected it very thoroughly and even had a frame shop take a second look before sending to powdercoat and...

Best media for blasting the body

If you plan on blasting it yourself, the biggest issue is the compressor.A normal 60-80 gallon compressor can't do it. You'll only be able to blast for 3-4 minutes at a time. You'll need to rent a trailer mounted IR screw type to be efficient. I'd use coarse stuff on the structural parts and...

Steering box frame reinforcement weld in plates

I've installed 3-5 of these on both K's and C's(off the top of my head 2 77's and an '89) over the years and never had to relocate anything that I recall. Maybe bend a line. I think the little bracket/ brace is already on the 89-91 trucks from the factory...

Steering box frame reinforcement weld in plates

Besides the plate, and bolt-on brace...you might find some rivets have loosened up in the crossmemeber. If you drill them out and replace with 7/16(?) G8 hardware it will help control the movement as well.

Best media for blasting the body

I paid $600-700 to have the C10 body dipped in Phoenix. Doesn't harm the metal. I did my Nova that way as well in Fort Worth but it was about $1500 iirc. https://xpressmetalcleaning.com/

    Where to get quadrajet rebuilt?

I use Carburetors Unlimited in Peoria, AZ. 90% of his business is Quadrajets. He built a half car/ half truck carb for me about a year ago. Everything is pre-run on a motor. If you do use him, send your distributor in at the same time and he'll recurve it to match your motor/ vehicle combo.

    SFV mechanic rec's

You may not have the right jackstands. I have 4 sets ranging in size and like Huck say's I trust the stands more than a lift. I also have cribbing if I am going to do long term work. That's as safe as you can go.
