Tailgate hangs too low when opened. Any way to get it more level?

Hopefully you haven't already painted it, you always need to figure out problems and make adjustments before paint. I assume we're talking about a Suburban? @Catbox asked a good question, the bumper could be too high. There's quite a bit of adjustment in the bumper brackets.

Or do this. This would be very simple lol

    A/C design

Unfortunately small blocks are not as easy to say "use this one, it'll be perfect" as an LS. There's so many front drive setups and head setups (some heads don't have bolt holes at all, others have different combos of bolt holes). That said, Restomod Air, Vintage Air or ICT Billet would be my...

Warshed it for C10s in the City tomorrow

    A/C design

If the truck had AC originally, it's easy, lots of guys have done it. I put an LS in my truck and planned to use the stock truck LS compressor (~240 for a new one from the parts store), got custom lines made (found the hoses and fittings online for like $150, test fit and marked them, had the...

    1987 R10 - QA1 Rear Coil Over Conversion Kit

There isn't one for a factory ride height or even close to factory height. The highest one will still drop the back end around 5-6". If you want the performance aspect of it, you need to drop it anyway, need to get the center of gravity down

    85 suburban 454 exhaust setup

Agreed. Especially with a 'burb which is just a giant tin can (same with a blazer), I'd run tailpipes no matter what muffler. Quiet mufflers on a pickup can drone like a **** on something with an enclosed rear section

    parking lights

Looks like you've got the smaller 4x6 light. If that's the case, you need another 4x6 light below it, not a marker. The upper lights are low beam, lowers are high beam. Your truck should look like the GMC above^. Then the marker light mount into the grille, there's tabs on the bottom side the...

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

I've had 7 GMT800s, mostly leveled 4x4s but also one stock 2wd Tahoe and a lowered 2wd Yukon. I've only gotten stuck once and it was a much deeper hole than I thought lol. They're probably the best generation truck GM ever built

    Turbine wheels in 5x5?

They exist, but extremely rare. I've only ever seen 2 sets and they both were on trucks. Never seen a set for sale. This guy is local to me and has a set. 15x7 and 15x10 I believe

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

Oh man, there's no better look than those narrow PY0s and some meaty 315/75/16s 'cept for maybe some LMM 5 spoke 20s

    Parking Brake Cable Upgrade

Only thing I know of besides factory replacement stuff (that works great btw, I personally wouldn't change it if you're still running factory drums) is the aftermarket electric parking brake conversion kits. They're typically meant to be used with rear discs though

opinions on my LS swap setup

I did the LS thing a few years ago and it's by far the best thing you can do to these trucks. Here's what sticks out to me: - A) Pick a better cam. That cam sucks in a heavy truck. My buddy's got it in a suburban and my god is it a dog. - B) The 706 heads are a good choice to bump compression...

What did we do before cup holders?

Yeah, those are available from multiple places. They work fine depending on what you put in them, how smoothly your truck rides and how smooth the roads are. If there's no smoothness, there will be drink on the floor

What did we do before cup holders?

The floor one was more useful. Was never a pain to reach down (30oz Yeti style cups and energy drinks comprise 99.9% of my usage), was out of the way but perfectly at hand and worked better with the larger cups. The one on the seat was great for keeping stuff inside it (the lid flips up) and for...

Picked up a 1982 C30 yesterday... adding to the list of projects!

Man, that is a killer truck! I love the way it looks as is. Swap in a Cummins or a big cube LS/6L90 or something and it would be really killer

Windshield seal/rubber replacement. is there a preferred brand or is all the same?

Precision has them, I have them in my '85. That or Steele Rubber are the only rubber products I'll use. First listing is an "X-parts", I don't know why but it is still a Precision part. Also, my glass guy prefers to use the OE corner pieces and middle piece (up front) for the lock strips...

    Chrome Headlight Bezels

You won't find them. There's nothing repopped for '83/84 GMC grilles (or really any GMC grille other than the '85-88) at all. You'll have to either use the Chevy ones or the '85-88 chrome ones.

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

Yep, those PYO's are some of the best looking GM wheels ever IMO. I do like them on squares occasionally

What is involved to switch from auto to manual

All depends on what what setup you have now and what you're going to. Are you running a small block or LS or something else? Wanting an old school 4-speed or a more modern 5/6 speed? There are a few generic things you'll have to do regardless: -remove shifter from column/swap out for a floor...

Does anyone make 17" aluminum 4x4 Rally wheels?

^Todd's correct. You can find factory 15x7 or 15x8 all day long. 16s only came on the OBS trucks and were skinny, like 6s I think. Nobody makes a 17, Detriot Steel and US Mags make 18, 20 and 22" versions.
