Drive line
Honestly I'd try to find a different shop, sounds like they're gonna be difficult. Only way to do it right is to have the truck on it's weight and measure center to center on the u-joint cap openings. I made some cribbing to get the truck ~1.5ft up in the air (cribbing goes under the wheels)...- TotalyHucked

Flex plate
Not really, don't have enough room to work or slide the plate off the crankshaft without at least moving the trans back a little. I did one years ago on a K5 Blazer, took the drive shafts out, balanced the trans/t-case on a jack and with the help of a couple buddies, slid it back about 6" so I...- TotalyHucked

Yeah, the HD trucks got that front end starting in '05, the 1500s didn't get it till '06. The 8.1 trucks are killer, you definitely should've either bought that one or ordered one. My buddy has an '03 GMC 2500 crewcab/shortbed 4x4 with the 8.1/Allison for his tow rig and he absolutely loves it...- TotalyHucked

Where are you located out of curiosity? There's so many things that simply won't work swapping an NBS heating system into a square. Your time would be better spent trying to figure out why you don't have good heat in your original setup. A properly working original heater should do everything...- TotalyHucked

Anyone running an 8.1, what trans are you using?
I know of two 8.1 swaps, one is running an Allison (4wd truck) that my tuner buddy tuned for him. And a coworker of mine is running a 4L80 in a 2wd. An 80 ought to handle the torque just fine, or at least it would with some minor upgrades- TotalyHucked
