    Muffler recommendations

If you like the sound/performance why not just get the same? As said above, it’s totally subjective. Not a single option is going to improve or reduce performance enough to be part of the equation. And yootoob is great but also subjective for sound, as is how your exhaust is setup, where it...

    Aux battery for audio

You’re still tracking right. And you provided enough info originally that should have quoted down the “whys” even though you were only asking about the “how’s”. It happens, it’s the internet. One guy running a 1900W stereo off of a crusty old Diehard battery and a kick @ss alternator is not the...

    Square-body?

I never paid attention to them since the time they were just “trucks” to me, until about 4 years ago when the boy wanted an old truck for his first car. By then, they were popularly called squarebodys. However the age of this forum may be a good clue and it’s about 15 years old I think. That...

    Aux battery for audio

First post. 1100W (yes not specific peak or rms and @ what impedance….probably another funny word to @Rusty Nail.) Also first post, he has a truck that came with a dual battery setup it appears. But correct, hasn’t answered “why” 2 batteries are needed. We need to get past 8ga battery grounds...

    Aux battery for audio

Ok, fair enough. Suffice it to say an 8ga ground for a battery that size running 2 amplifiers is way undersized. But seems like the experts here who haven’t provided any meaningful input think the good advice you’re getting is dumb. So maybe they could help you….

Help cant get heater box out

AC box stays in. Bottom nuts are hidden. All are on the firewall. But you can get em with enough extensions and a swivel. Heater box come out from the inside. I left one of them off when I reassembled. Heater was tight and no fkin way I was getting it back on. It’s pretty straightforward...

@Doppleganger, don’t obsess about the exact grit for prep. Or actually if you want to out your brain at ease, hit a spot each with different grits, skim bondo over it and see if it doesn’t stick. Even though it all feels smooth, lower grit has more bite or surface area. On a microscopic scale...

Ya nice job! If you ain’t gettin the runs here or there you’re not spraying a wet enough coat. That looks great out of the gun in the one pic.

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

To close the loop, I shimmed all the squarebody bottom door hinges on both trucks. The passenger doors sound and close as good or better than new. The drivers doors also close very easily as well with no drag on the striker. Didn’t take much shimming. Don’t remember because it was months ago...

^Sorry as well Marty for de-railing your thread with my responses to @Doppleganger. @Doppleganger, I’ve never used adhesion promoter at all, much less epoxy primer, but in your position, I’d research that and think about it for the impossible/hard to reach areas. Like door hinges, etc. Idea...

    Rear brake bleeding struggles

Yup, if you can’t force any fluid thru the wheel cylinder then it’s time to take it apart. If you suspect it’s been (decades) since rear brakes have been apart, probably in for wheel cylinders, pads if they ever leaked or if worn, spring kit and adjusters at a minimum. E brake cable(s) replace...

    Rear brake bleeding struggles

Confused, you have disk brakes in the rear on that truck? Or did you mean wheel cylinder? You haven’t expounded on the basic condition or believed age of the brake components, but my assumptions was they are OLD. If that’s the case, any/all could be an issue and any/all components could/should...

+1 on all of the above. Confirming that bondo works on bare metal, primer or paint as well. There are considerations when not going to bare metal, like how much you trust the bond of the layer(s) below the bondo, down to the metal. Other wise it’s scuff, smear, sand.

    First time "real" painting.

Why would you strip it again? Makes no sense. How much bondo could you have on the bare cab? If it’s that much, it may be the wrong cab? I never saw the truck before you disassembled it. How bad is/was it? It seems you’re still making this more complicated than it needs to be. No reason to...

    Question on upgrading gauges

That’s what I’d do if I was gonna drop some $ on replacement gauges. The last working squarebody clock bit the dust in 1993 probably …lol. I got 2 of them. Every other gauge works great. Both clocks probably been dead since 1981 and 1990 respectively.

    Rear brake bleeding struggles

If you had to clean out the bleeder screw, and no fluid came out of them, the wheel cylinders are shot. Good news is , if the bleeders came out, you should be able to get the brake lines loose without much issue.

I’m just a shade tree. But you needed to use epoxy or etching because you went to bare metal. . I wouldn’t use it otherwise I think. Not a big deal. And sanding to metal for bondo should be quick and easy. You don’t put epoxy on thick.

    First time "real" painting.

Bottom line is regardless of what kind of paint or primer or clear, you have to sand (scuff) it before carrying on. Too late now, but areas where you’re presumably not doing any more primer, like inside the cab and jambs, underside of hood etc, consider painting it right away. Pain in the ass...

What have you done to your square lately??

Brown got a little work yesterday. Tired of it leaving piss marks of power steering fluid randomly. Pressure hose (looked original) had a little crack. Think it was also swelled up inside, have to cut it in half and check. Pump used to whine a little. Now it doesn’t. So nice working on a truck...
