Muncie 4 Speed In A Truck?

I prefer the wide ratio, as the first gear is fairly low, and helps you get going. Like Jim said, a closes ratio in a lower torque motor is ok if the car is light, a truck not so much. Personally, I grew up with the Muncie, and the Hurst Completion Plus shifter, used to modify the shifter for...

    Engine Rebuild Kit Recommendations

Different piston types require different clearance spec. Hypereutectic are probably what you have, and are a snug fit, .0015-.0025 common for a 4" bore. Hone finishing usually 400 grit stone, you can scotch brite to act like a plateau hone, up and down, not circular pattern. Ring clearance for...

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

You can “ring test” the flywheel for future reference, tap it and a good flywheel will ring, bad will kinda go “ thunk”. Useful for testing all kinds of stuff. I originally used this method to test grinding stones b-4 installing them on the spindle.

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

Jack, they are not pressed on, it is one piece. prying on a crankshaft, why? Geez that is crazy. In my mind I am fixing that bent flange, (if that is it), and I am sure it can be done. Usually it is done in a lathe, but that's not happening. first things first. If you had a helper, the engine...

    Might have Over-torqued Rod Bolts 250 I6

Jack, do you have a dial indicator? I would pull the clutch etc. down to the flange, to see if there is some paint, or? check runout. You want NO runout. Check for burrs, use a fine file, or a knife sharpening stone and it should NOT hang up anywhere. Check the flywheel mating side for the same...

    350>454>lq4

May also drop in a Scat tater' sembly with a 4.375 stroke and .06 os pistons. This is an early block, (Mark IV)., and I may be able to bore .125 over. If so I will shift my bores toward the intake valve .02-.04, and the shift would be about 45 Deg toward the back of the block, and toward the...

Dang 6.2#$%^*&%^, got all glow plugs working, last night cracked all the injectors and fuel to them all. That tells me that the IPump is good, (rebuilt,) fuel solenoid, checked out, but battery's are not doin the job as voltage goes to 10 volts while cranking, and bugger, new battery time...

    Engine Rebuild Kit Recommendations

Like Rick, I to balance all my engines, and glad I do, cause a couple would be shakers, mostly ol' 235's. Rick is right, if you can do it, mostly it becomes a problem at high rpm's, if you were out 4 grams or so. Most assemblies from the factory that I have checked are within a couple grams...

Value of a 400/402 big block?

I was there when they came out.....we all drooled. Been in some very fast 396's. 402 was a .030 over 396. 4.125 stroke shaft makes it a 454, but different from "the" 454, 4.25 bore, 4" stroke.

    Who's truck is this????

I’m going to be doing that this winter and was planning on a pictorial documentation. I am supposed to pick my truck up from the body shop, fixed a few insurance dents. You will need a two wheel drive 4l80e and a th 400 to 205 or 203 ( or trans dapt like I am using,) that you are running. Your...

    Daily driver turbo

I am looking at turbo manifolds, I like this one because I can use the stock drivers side exhaust manifold. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g9300#overviewvideo This allows me to run the two wastegates, but will still need blowoff.

    Daily driver turbo

So It is Turbo4whl, but I was able to pull the tank in the back gravel lot. Was relatively easy, took an hour but the most time was spent draining the tank. At least they are 20's so I know the 87's should go right in. I am going to buy everything new, as these are original, and it would be so...

    Daily driver turbo

While my truck was being worked on, (at the body shop,) they noticed my passenger side tank leaking, so now I have to go down there tomorrow early, and take my truck home. I have heard that 87 tanks are baffled, so am going that route, just in case I decide to go FI, (NOT.) For now I will...

What y'all think, patch it and run it?

Squareroot, this is a perfect opportunity to use these tires up, patch and smokie burnout. Post the results here for our viewing and listening pleasure. Am I the only guy that does burnouts here?

    Starter & back window question

My stock started, with headers BBC 454, the wrap did help, bit will probably go with a high torque minnie as at times the starter is a little slow on very hot days, or if I start it up after it has sat and heat soaked a few minutes.

Oil in the “heat passages” on BBC 360 heads

Like Rick said, an added is benefit is slightly more HP, for free. David Vizard did some interesting studies on that, plus helps with oil leaks.
