    Direct bolt in gauge cluster

My Dakota goes to 120. I looked at lots of aftermarket options, 160 mph speedos and 12K rpm tachs seem to be most everything available. The Dakota’s 120 & 8K tach were the most appropriate I could find

WTH! CRACKED FRAME AT PS GEARBOX. Whats the fix. Check it out.

^^^^ This I bought the Smitybilt brand patch plate for my K10 & opted not to add the brace. I may add the brace eventually, I kinda wish I would have went through ORD and bought both at the same time.

What are these parts called, and where can I find them?

LOL... I feel your pain, I had mine assembled or part assembled several times. Pretty sure I made the metal washer mistake and had to fight the inner shaft collapsing a few times. Be careful mounting the shaft to the steering box too, mine was pretty tight and ended up collapsing that inner...

    Fabbing an alt support bracket

What is the hole below the thermostat? It’s possible a flat plate could be cut to shape and connect that hole to the boss. The same plate could be tied into the main mounting bolt with a spacer. It could be made a little more rigid by welding a tab to tie into the manifold bolts Here’s...

    Fabbing an alt support bracket

Also-also…. If you clock the housing, the black center section is attached to the back half so it turns with it.

    Fabbing an alt support bracket

Also…. Clocking the housing may make using the other boss more accessible for your other idea

    Fabbing an alt support bracket

Just throwing out ideas… Clock the back half of the alternator clockwise by one bolt hole. Then the boss behind the valve cover (A) would be in position to use the threaded hole in the bracket (B) or the header bolt (C). Or maybe both the threaded hole and header bolt. The charge lug and...

    Alternator Mount Differences - Update

The mounting ears on the 105 and 140 both fit in the Vortec bracket the same… I can’t get an idea of what you’re dealing with, got any photos from farther away

    Electrical genius advice needed,....

This sounds right, the older truck wipers would not "park" themselves when the key was switched off, they just stopped mid wipe. With the Key turned to "run" do you have power at any of the unused slots labeled "IGN" It could be a bad ignition switch itself. There should be heavy gauge red...

    Fuel neck 75 c10 into 87 tank

I bought one for an 82 or newer truck IIRC. The old tanks had a 1.5" inlet and the 87 tanks are 1.75 IIRC, I ordered this one from oreilys Precision Fuel Tanks Filler Neck Hose - FNH169

    Dent removal

Slip a pick between the tank and bed, or through the wheel well, or maybe remove the trim from the gas filler neck and go through there. Just be careful what you use as an anchor (fulcrum) for the pick to avoid creating new dents that would need fixing. Or unbolt the bed then slide it back...

    Quiet muffler recommendations

I ran hooker “super comp” turbo mufflers on my k-10 for the 10 years it was my daily driver, I almost went that way this time too. They were deep and sounded great at an idle and we’re not loud at highway speed

    Quiet muffler recommendations

Looks like a cheap copy of a 40 series flowmaster. Just about anything should be quieter than those, and probably less drone inside the cab too.

    Shock Mounts

On my K-10 they bolt right to the frame... I couldn't find a close up with the new shocks installed, this is the best I can do at the moment. It should be noted it is common for the frame to crack at the rear shock mounts, I had to weld up both sides.

    Quiet muffler recommendations

Wont argue the quality or engineering of GM factory mufflers but... HAVE YOU NOTICED THE SIZE ON THOSE SUCKERS? LOL... The one on my wife Yukon XL is the size of a quarter drum, its huge.

    Quiet muffler recommendations

I did the hushpowers on mine in 2.25" duals, no real experience driving with them on the square yet though. I have a 2.5" hushpower on my jeep (3.6L V6) and needed to put a resonator on to reduce the drone in the cab. Sounds great now.

    Rear-end shot

Looks like GovBomb... I Thought that piece sticking through the cover was too odd shaped to be a spider gear or chunk of the pinion. FYI: Try to put your bearing caps back on what side they came from and in the same orientation as they were removed. If you've already forgot closely inspect...

    Seized engine?

If it's locked up that tight I'd start planing on rebuild or replacement. Does it have any water in it? Is there any oil in it? Did it overheat right before it seized? Did you take a good look at the block to make sure it doesn't have a connecting rod sticking out the side? Drain the oil...

What color is the wire for the fuel gauge?

Yes, through the bulkhead & to the gauge. The rest of the dual tank wiring goes through the firewall in a different spot.

What color is the wire for the fuel gauge?

With factory stuff it should only hook up one way... My factory sending unit wire had a kinda unique plug on the end.

What color is the wire for the fuel gauge?

My ‘80 with dual tanks is a pinkish/tanish wire. It’s here on the bulkhead IIRC: ETA: looking at my notes I may have it pinned in the wrong spot, I think it should be in the hole above that.
