Dual axle trailer brakes worth it?? Pic's inside

This is correct ^^^ Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires brakes on all trailer axles, if the weight of the trailer requires brakes.* Sellers do bring in out of state trailer builds. Yes, could be bad for some customers. * PA. Brakes required on any trailer that weights more than half the...

Headlights, Radio, and Wipers work without ACC power

I would check the radio. The headlights brake lights and 4-way are always hot. The radio would have 2 feeds and possibly 3. Feed from the dash lights, feed from the accessory and maybe the third for a memory. Memory is always on too. If these were joined together then you could back feed the...

    Dome light switch snafu

Yes, 2 different sizes. NAPA has both. Don't remember what years are different. This is a good idea, that wire would have jumped back in the hole. Me, I use tape, I'm not coordinated enough to hold the wire and tie a string.

How to tell if my NP203 has been converted to part time?

No, if the auto trans is in gear and you shift out of high gear, the counter shaft still spins. Nothing to push back when the transfer case is in neutral. So if you are stopped, put the truck in park then you can shift to another gear in the transfer case. As @Octane stated, you can shift while...

    Door Hinge Spring Replacement

Glade you got it! The tool actually works from the top. Hook the spring on the bottom, and slide it up. With the tool in place, short extension and ratchet at the top, twist to hold a little tension. Remove your hand, twist the tool and spring around where it goes, push down on the ratchet to...

Not good at ac I need help

So the switch in the heater/AC control needs to switch power to turn on the relay. Fuse for AC/heater? Next pull the dash bezel and loosen up the control at the dash. Move it out enough to check power in and out from there.

    Stripped fuel filter

Like some others, many 'Help' parts for these trucks just aren't available any more. (40 or 50 year old trucks) What can work, get a new carb filter inlet nut. Hacksaw some slots to make it into a re-threading tool. Take your time, and get it straight in. My favorite Helps tool, this door...

Not good at ac I need help

Was your truck built with AC from the factory? If so it would have a POA system, truly a very cold system when operating correctly. Being a 50 year old truck, pictures of the AC pump and pressure lines will help us, to help you. The system could have been changed or added on. The wiring to the...

    Grounding Issue!

Ground strap from the firewall to the back of the driver's side head. 3/8" STD bolt threaded into one of the accessory holes in the head. The fire wall should have a threaded stud, they do rust off. Use a star washer on both the head and the firewall.

    Really weird air conditioning problem

Okay, you need to flush every part clean as @fast 99 stated. The compressor oil makes the inside of all the parts sticky. That in turn holds all the shredded compressor guts. Disconnect and flush each part with a solvent based cleaner. I know they sell spray cans with adapters to flush out trans...

    Really weird air conditioning problem

@louu What brand compressors? If the first one failed, shrapnel will stick in the condenser and evaporator. Whole system needs to be flushed. If I read this right, you took out the orifice tube twice, and both times it was clogged up. Yo Mike, that's just wrong, but funny!

    Factory hei distributor and coil

Put the cap and rotor on. Save the coil in the glove box. Even the new Delco coils are made overseas. Unless you see physical damage, ie overheat discolored or crud melting out, the old coil is better.

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

Not 3.2, but actuality 3.23:1. Hard to see that .03 when your counting axle or driveshaft turns. Some GM RPO codes for non standard axle ratios. GQ1 -- AXLE REAR, STD RATIO GT4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO GT5 -- AXLE REAR, 4.10 RATIO GU4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO GU5 -- AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO GU6...

Is there a good spot for keyed power under the hood?

Another way to switch on power under the hood without going through the firewall, pressure switch plumped to the engine oil feed. Fused feed from the battery to the pressure switch. Wire back to a relay to power up your accessory. This is how I wired up my air horn compressor. Will only run when...

I was not clear on this reply that you knew it was a fuel gauge selector, or I would not have made this post: Now as far as a 3 tank valve, 2 ways you can do that. First, 3 electric fuel pumps with a flapper check valve on the outlet of each pump. Turn the pump on for the tank you want to use...

    THM350C alternatives or keep it?

When cruising, the TH350C the converter should lock, dropping the RPM's about 300. Better fuel economy than the TH350. Otherwise the two trans's are the same. A 700R4 is a bolt in, but with your 3.23:1 ratio axle you would probably want to switch the axle ratio lower.

Wheel almost fell off while driving…help

Hard to tell from your picture. Possibly the wrong lug nuts for those aftermarket wheels? They are very large tires with a lot of offset for a half ton truck.

Did you figure out this switch? I have another guess. Many 1950's vehicles did not have canceling turn signals on the steering column. Pop had a 1959 MGA with the signal switch in the center of the dash.
