What is this wire? (1979 K10)

Could be power for an electric choke. A carburetor that needed an electric choke could have been installed at some point. Choke's were different over the square years. My 1974 had a divorced choke. My 1982 has electric choke. I believe that 1979 was still using a heat stove choke.

    Rotor discoloration, pulsing

The items to check have been stated. Caliper needs to move freely. Piston can't be stuck. And the most common failure for your condition is a rubber brake hose. What happens to the hose, the inner bladder of the hose detaches from the outer casing. The master cylinder with lots of pressure...

    Rotor discoloration, pulsing

No. the hub and rotor bearings rotate on the spindle. The only time and axle shaft would effect the spindle is if it breaks and is banging on the inside of the spindle. If it is loose because of it's worn bearings, it still has no effect on the spindle.

    Rotor discoloration, pulsing

    1) Collapsed rubber brake hose? Fluid applies under master cylinder pressure, but does not release fast. 2) Piston stuck in the caliper bore? Same, applies but not fully releasing.

    Got a Dodge squarebody!

Don"t try and pry a stuck distributor rotor off. Bend the dizzy shaft real easy. Then it only fires half the cylinders. Take a small ball pin hammer and hit stright down on the top. Pull the broken pieces out of the dizzy. Check the firewall where the master cylinder mounts, they crack there...

How much more power can a 5.3L make without hurting road manners or gas mileage?

The way I see it, you need more HP for your road rally race car, but you want more torque for your truck. You don't need that bumpy cam or fancy porting if you are boosting. Blow that air and fuel in and you are making torque.

What have you done to your square lately??

Some GM odometers are anti temper. The white background for the tenth's is a white goo. If you touch it, it will end up all over the place.

14 Bolt Full Float / Semi Float Identification

They are not talking smack. Your axle is not assembled correctly. Square top U bolts need a saddle. Early 3/4 an 1 ton squares had saddles. With the U bolts pointing up the U bolts should be round to match the axle. The saddles are cast to match the axle diameter. All larger truck axles are...

    Differential skid plates

Early K10 Squares have a Dana 44 front axle. Later models have the GM corp 10 bolt. No, the Dana 44 and GM 10 bolt do not take the same cover.

    Power Steering Pump Reservoir Adjustment

Take it back, get your money back. Buy a better pump. The seal doesn't look right from you picture either. Tell them it is assembled wrong. If nothing better, at lease swap it for another from NAPA. Also, you should not squeeze the pump reservoir. It seals with one large "O" ring. Clamping in...

    350 Water Pump Woes

Okay, I could debate. First I did state, "run the engine and see if the the lower hose sucks in." Second, the shape, length and diameter all have a play in whether or not the lower hose needs reinforcement. Remember, I have worked on medium duty trucks longer than most of the peeps on this forum...

    350 Water Pump Woes

I believe Rick hit the answer. The pump is cavitating because a lack of flow. So check the lower hose when running to see if it sucks in. That is why there should be a metal coil spring in the lower hose. Or, the radiator cross tubes are clogged and not enough flow. The cheap metal rear pump...
