    wires ?

The purple wire is for the engine start. From the ignition switch to the clutch switch on a manual trans. To the neutral safety switch on an auto trans.

Sensor above oil filter 3 wire

@Loren So did you pull the plug off and only find 2 terminals on the switch? Here is how the heated choke and choke light work: Key on, current to the choke light and current to the switch on the light color wire. The switch is open with no oil pressure. The current from the choke light bulb...

    Center Console Knob

Okay, so the medium duty GM trucks from the 1967-1972 series could have a glove box lock. Don't know if it was an option or standard. That lock also has a different set back depth for the threads, but I was able to get it to fit in my '82 glove box door. Keep in mind GMC used that series cab...

Nope, your good. Keep the 10W30 or 40.

Sensor above oil filter 3 wire

So there were several ways that GM wired the choke, some use a relay. Your '84 most likely without the relay. Pull the plug off you may only find 2 spade pins, not 3. The two blue wires, (hard to see) are jumped together in the plug.

With the nail head type, just reach in with needle nose pliers and lift the pin a little.

    proportioning valve choices

Their are 3 types. When you remove the rubber cover, if the pin looks like a nail head, the tool slips under the nail head and you roll it back and pull the pin out a little. (No picture) More common type, the pin is straight, (no Nail head). the tool is a little clamp that pushes the pin in...

    NP203 fluid

This discussion for NP203 transfer case oil could go on for pages. GM recommended 10W40 in the early 1970's when these 203's first hit the scene. Chrysler Corp. which had New Process Gear then, recommended transmission fluid. Since their engineers designed the gear box, did they know better...

    What is it?

@Sgt Gus When I first started working for the company I drove this truck a few times. If memory serves, it only had a driver's seat. It was used for parts delivery. No insulation, like driving in a drum.

    What is it?

The first picture 1960-1966 C/K series. Since it has the knee knocker cab (curved glass windshield) it is 1960-1963. Engines, 283 V8 and inline sixs 250, 292? GMC's would have a 305 V6 as well as the V8. Next is an Advanced Design series, 1947-1955. First post war design, sometimes referred to...

Broken hearted kid and fuel system

You need to remove all the bed bolts, then you can jack one side up some. If you only unbolt one side you will bend metal. Here in the rust belt bed bolts do not unbolt well. The carriage bolts spin in their pockets. Some bolts you can lock vise grips on the bolt shank, but not all. Usually...

What have you done to your square lately??

That wheel needs a horn ring... and 3 note horns to match! Looks like a period correct medium duty truck wheel.

Broken hearted kid and fuel system

Just run your new metal line right to one tank. Use rubber hose to connect to the tank sender. 3/8" hose and 3/8" metal tube. Two mini worm drive hose clamps. Run the metal tube right next to the original for now and connect it to the fuel pump. Use some ty-wraps to hold it. This is temporary so...

Broken hearted kid and fuel system

@jlynn79 Hi James, with the info you and your dad posted, you have located the problem. Most likely the line is not kinked. Since the truck sat for some time, 7 years quoted, the old fuel left in the steel line dried. What is left is a sticky goo. Trying to draw fuel through drags some rust...

    1995 454 has 2 timing tabs?

As engine bays got filled up with more accessories such as AC, a smog pump and even a second alternator, using a timing light was hard to do. The second timing tab, at 45*, was added to some timing chain covers. The balancer included should have 2 marks.

The length is about 22" long. No idea why they are providing a longer cable as a replacement or where to buy it.

These trucks were what people used before small pickup sized vans hit the seen. You could get larger vans..

    Throttle cable way too long

That long cable is for a same period GM van. No clue where or how everyone has the wrong listing.

What is this wire? (1979 K10)

This can be a good idea, but a 40 plus year old truck wires loose their color. Wires also get added or replaced. @fast 99 has a good idea about when and if there is even any power to the wire. Also as he said, good idea is to find out why the truck does not idle smooth. One wire with no place...
